Modes Of Direct SSB Interview

There are various modes of joining Indian defence i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy. One has to go through SSB  interview to joining Indian defence in officer’s category. You may get direct SSB interview call or you may have to clear a written test first. 

Direct SSB Interview Entry Types:- Without any written test

  1. TES (Technical Entry Scheme ): 
    • For 12th standard candidates, based on their aggregate percentage in Physics, Chemistry and Maths [PCM]. 
    • For Army and Navy only.
    • Only for male candidates.
    • Cut off 75-85%
  2. TGC- Technical Graduate Course:
    • For technical engineering graduates B.E and B.tech ( subject to eligibility of a particular stream)
    • Only for male candidates.
    • Cut off 62 -65%.
  3.   SSC-tech:
    • For technical engineering graduates B.E and B.tech ( subject to eligibility of a particular stream)
    • Both for male and female candidates.
    • Cut off 62 -65%.
  4. UES- Army: University Entry Scheme:
    • For Final year engineering graduates (BE and Btech)
    • May contain few initial screening rounds in campus.
    • Only for male.
    • Shortlisting based on overall percentage.
  5. UES- Navy
    • Procedure same as UES-Army
  6. NCC Special Entry Scheme:
    • Graduates with NCC- C certificate.
    •  Both for male and female. 
  7. Indian Navy- Logistics, Pilot, Technical, Executive. 
    • For any graduates ( depends on type of entry)
    • Both male and female (depends on type of entry)
    • Cut off  75- 80%
  8. FTS: Fast Track Selection by IAF
    • For post graduates. 
    • Initial screening test at selected venue.
    • Only for Meteorological branch.
    • For both male and female.

SSB Interview after clearing written test:

  1. NDA & NA: 
    • For 12th standard candidates.
    • Admission into National Defence Academy for Army, IAF and Navy.
    • Examination conducted by UPSC twice every year.
    • High competition level. 
    • Only Male
  2. CDSE:
    • For all graduates.
    • Admission into IMA, OTA, AFA and NA.
    • Examination conducted by UPSC twice every year.
    • High competition level. 
    • Both male and female. 
  3. AFCAT:
    1. For all graduates.
    2. Admission into flying, technical and GDOC branches of IAF.
    3. Examination conducted by Air Force twice every year.
    4. Moderate competition level.
    5. Both male and female.

  1. Hi i am rahul. I am a biology student. I applied for NDA 2 exam . And when I searched about SSB interview I came to know that i can’t apply for it if I don’t have a certificate in PCM Or PCMB stream. So if I wrote the exam and qualified can I still apply for SSB interview? If I can’t what is the use for me writing NDA 2 exam?
