Tennis:
  • US open 2013 this was 133rd version of the game played in New York. Men’s singles title was lifted by Spaniard Rafel Nadal, this was his 13th title and 2nd US open title and he defeated Serbia’s Novak djokovic. In women’s singles Serena William of USA defended her title successfully by defeating Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka  .in men’s double India’s Leander Paes and Czech Republic’s Radek Stepanek  won the title.
  • Korea open :- World No.4 Agnieszka Radwanska claimed her thirteenth career trophy and the third title of the year after triumphs at Auckland and Sydney at the start of the season as she won the KDB Korea Open by overwhelming Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a nearly three hour epic in Seoul on Sunday.
  • Pan Pacific open:-Sania Mirza of India and Cara Black of Zimbabwe won the Toray Pan Pacific Open tennis championship women’s doubles title by defeating Hao-Ching Chan (Chinese Taipei) and Liezel Huber (USA) in final at Tokyo. And Petra Kvitova of Czech republic won singles title. By defeating Angelique kerber of Germany.
Cricket:
  • India Blue cricket squad won the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy by defeating Delhi by 50 runs in the final at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on 29 September 2013.Bhuvneshwar Kumar selected man of the match. Yuvraj singh captained the India Blue team, whereas Virat Kohli captained the Delhi team. 
  • The Marylebone Cricket Club on 1 October 2013 released the 5th edition of the 2000 Code in which there are some of the important changes of cricket rule including the change in the No-Ball Rule. Now in case a bowler breaks the wicket in the due course of delivery stride, it would be called the No Ball. Another change in the law is in context with giving OUT to the ‘Handling of the Ball.’ Any player involved in the illegal handling of the ball shall be given OUT on the basis of ‘Obstructing the field’. Other rules are:-
    • The batsman with a runner will not be given an OUT in case he is stumped off a No Ball. Earlier, he would have been given the Run Out. 
    • Now, it is not possible to score the Runs after making the second strike. Earlier, Runs could be made after the lawful second strike only in case the overthrow had occurred.
    • Practicing on the field has been ruled out completely. This means that a bowler is not allowed to practice the ball to the fielder as a loosener, even if it bounces on the ground
  • Afghanistan Cricket team on 4 October 2013 qualified for its maiden ICC World Cup after defeating Kenya by seven wickets at World Cricket League Championship in Sharjah. With this win Afghanistan also became the 20th team to gain entry into the tournament overall.
  • Mumbai Indians clinched the Champions League Twenty-20 title by defeating Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs in New Delhi on 6 October 2013.
Hockey:
  • South Korea Defeated India to Win the Asia Cup Hockey Final at Malaysia With this, South Korea confirmed its place in the World Cup at The Hague. 
  • India won bronze medal in the 8th Women’s Asia Cup 2013 as they defeated China in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 27 September 2013. . Ritu Rani captained Indian side in the tournament, whereas Weilin Mao captained the China team. Meanwhile, Japan stunned defending champions Korea 2-1 in the final to win the Asia Cup and secure a place in next year’s World Cup. 
Archery world cup 2013:
  • India’s Deepika Kumari on 22 September 2013 settled for a silver medal at the Archery World Cup in Paris, France. In the final, Deepika lost to the Korean Olympic champion Ok-Hee Yun, and had to settle for a Silver in the showpiece annual fixture, held after four stages. This was Deepika’s fourth successive World Cup Final appearance and second loss to Yun.
Wrestling:
  • World championship:-The Indian wrestler Amit Kumar bagged Silver Medal in 55 Kg Free Style categories in the 2013 Senior World Wrestling Championship being held at Budapest, Hungary on 16 September 2013. In the final, he lost the bout to Iranian wrestler Rahimi Hassan Farma.
  •  Indian wrestler Bajrang Kumar has bagged a bronze medal in the 60 kilogram freestyle category at the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary on 17 September 2013.
  • Indian wrestler Sandeep Tulsi Yadav on 22 September 2013 won bronze medal in the 66kg Greco-Roman category at the Senior World Wrestling Championships in Budapest. This bronze medal is India’s first ever medal in the 66kg Greco-Roman category at the Senior World Wrestling Championships.
Badminton:
  • The Hyderabad Hotshots won the inaugural edition of the Indian Badminton league (IBL) 2013 played at Sardar Patel Stadium, Mumbai by defeating Awadhe Warriors in the finals. Saina Nehwal helped Hyderabad hotshots on level terms after defeating PV Sindhu. Ajay Jayaram defeated Gurusai Dutt in the third tie to secure the Men’s singles title of IBL 2013. 
  • Japan open:-Chen Long claimed his second title in two weeks on 25 September 2011 when he shocked World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei to win the men’s singles badminton title at the Japan Open. The Chinese. In the women’s singles final, Chinese World champion and No. 1 Wang Yihan whipped the eighth-seeded Juliane Schenk of Germany 21-16, 21-14 in 43 minutes to regain the title she won in 2008 and 2009.
Chess:
  • Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi won the bronze medal in the World Junior Chess Championship (U 20) after a draw with Yu Yangyi of China in the 13th and final round that concluded at Kocaeli, Turkey.
Football:
  • Afghanistan won the South Asian Football Federations (SAFF) Championship 2013 by defeating India, the defending champions in Kathmandu, Nepal. This is maiden international trophy lifted by Afghanistan in Football.
  • Durand cup:-Kolkata’s Mohammedan Sporting club won the 126th Durand Foot ball tournament as it defeated ONGC in the final at in New Delhi. The Durand Football Tournament is the third oldest football tournament in the world and oldest in Asia and India.
  • UEFA Super Cup:-Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea in the final at the Eden stadium in Prague to win UEFA Super Cup 2013. The final was decided through a 5-4 penalty shoot-out which went in the favour of Bayern Munich.
Formula -1 race:
  • Red Bull Driver Sebastian Vettel of Germany won the Singapore Formula One Grand Prix and Italian grand prix too.
