Indian Army Captain Caught With 22 Liquor Bottles In Bihar

The Government Rail Police (GRP) arrested Captain Dheeraj Kumar (30), serving the Indian Army, with 22 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Hajipur railway station on Saturday night.

Hajipur GRP SHO Sanjay Singh said he, along with his team, was checking baggage of the passengers alighting from long-distance trains when Kumar was also asked to cooperate. “Kumar was coming from Guwahati-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and he reached Hajipur at around 9pm when we asked him to open his bags,” said the SHO and added that 22 bottles of 750 millilitres each were recovered. The bottles had been brought from Army canteen in Shillong.

Singh said Kumar was posted with the Signal Core of Indian Army in Shillong and reached Bihar to attend a marriage in his family. “We got to know that Kumar’s father had informed him about the complete prohibition enforced in the state and had asked him not to bring any liquor else he would be caught,” said Singh and added that he had brought the liquor to distribute it among the guests during the marriage ceremony.

The SHO also said Kumar’s senior authorities in Shillong were informed about his violating the prohibition law in the state. He said Kumar, a native of Ismail Chak under Sonepur police station area in Saran district, was forwarded to jail on Sunday.
