The contract will see the integration of cutting-edge electronic warfare (EW) systems and directional infrared countermeasures (DIRCMs) into the customer’s fleet, which includes Airbus H225M tactical helicopters and Embraer C-390 Millennium airlifters. Furthermore, part of the contract includes the provision of EW devices for an additional fleet of C-390 aircraft operated by a NATO partner, emphasizing collaboration among member nations in bolstering defense capabilities.

Elbit’s tailored self-protection suites will consist of various advanced technologies, including proprietary radar warning receivers, infrared missile and laser warning systems, and dispensers. Notably, the suites will also feature multi-spectral infrared laser-based countermeasure (MUSIC) systems designed to enhance the aircraft’s defense mechanisms against potential threats.

A key element of this agreement is the provision of Elbit’s self-protection, electronic attack, and reconnaissance (SPEAR) pods. These versatile pods carry the countermeasure devices and are interchangeable between different aircraft, maximizing operational flexibility and efficiency.

The work associated with this contract is set to be conducted over the next five years, reflecting Elbit’s commitment to delivering high-quality defense solutions. Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems’ EW division, highlighted the company’s established expertise in the field, noting that their EW Self-Protection Suites are already installed on more than 30 different aircraft types across multiple countries, including several NATO allies.

Sabag emphasized that these new contracts not only bolster Elbit’s standing in the realm of airborne self-protection systems but also reaffirm the company’s capability to provide modular designs that can adapt to ever-evolving threats. This adaptability ensures a rapid response to safeguard aircrews and platforms effectively, ensuring enhanced operational safety and readiness in aerial missions.

As global defense dynamics continue to evolve, contracts like these highlight the critical role that advanced electronic warfare technologies play in maintaining security and operational superiority among NATO forces.
