Recommended For Indian Navy In 7th Attempt 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme

0

Hello, everyone! I am Ashish Kumar Pandey and I am here today to share my success story and my SSB journey which took two long years for me to achieve my goal . I’m from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh but I am currently residing in Bangalore for my studies.

I am from a defence background as my father is in the IAF and he has always encouraged and supported me to make my dream come true. My first attempt was an NDA attempt in which I got recommended from SSB Bhopal but I was medical out.

spot_img

I only got a week’s time to prepare for it and had even risked my board exams for the same. So at first when I didn’t get through, I was a bit disappointed but I did not lose my hopes and went for my next 5 attempts for 10+2 direct entries to SSB Bhopal, SSB Allahabad, SSB Kapurthala, AFSB Varanasi, SSB Bangalore. In all 5 attempts, I was conferenced out.

The ordeal of dealing with conference outs one after the other was heartbreaking but I saw one silver lining through it all – I never got screened out.

In my last attempt which was my 7th attempt through Navy 10+2 B.Tech Entry I got so well versed with all the SSB procedures that I gave my 100% and never thought I lacked anywhere. The Personal Interview was very grilling in my last attempt where they even tried to put me under pressure and tested my determination  but I was adamant and let them know that I was determined to get recommended but not desperate.

I feel that most of the repeaters commit a mistake by being desperate. They got egoistic and felt it hard to accept their rejection. I have felt it myself in my first couple of attempts too but I took my rejections as lessons to be learnt and improved for my next attempt.

I believe that never give up hope and always try again and again for success. There will be people who will try to demotivate you but never get demotivated.

Also I would suggest never take your group members to be your rivals but your friends, because I believe SSBs will come and go but friends are there forever.

oir test and ppdt

Also I have played games and sports like volleyball and basketball, I played for myself and my own enjoyment. So never think that playing sports is important only for filling up your PIQ. You should play because you like playing and it will automatically come out in your personal Interview.

Even I like writing poetry and got into adventure camps include paragliding, parasailing, etc. and these activities really helped me to get refreshed and prepare me to get ready for the next SSB.

So, never give up. Believe in yourself. Keep a calmness of mind. No matter how much you get rejected, let that small ‘diya’ aflame in your heart and never let it burn down.

Be determined and not desperate. One day you will surely reach your goal and make yourself and your loved ones feel proud about you and your hard work.

Sierra Squadron for Females at National Defence Academy

0
Sierra-Squadron

In compliance with the judgment of the Honourable Supreme Court, the UPSC released a notice allowing females to appear for the NDA 2 2021 exam.

All the eligibility criteria remain the same for the male candidates.

Health and physical standards, infrastructure for females at the National Defence Academy, strength intake, nature of training and medical standards were left to be decided by the Ministry of Defence.

spot_img

It was also specified that separate physical infrastructure and residential quarters with strict physical separation would be allotted to female candidates including separate bathroom cubicles, swimming, equitation, games, and sports facilities.

As per the female eligibility criteria stated in the NDA notification, the age limit, educational qualification, & marital status requirements for female candidates are the same as for male candidates.

A total of nineteen girls cracked the toughest UPSC Exam. Out of the nineteen girls, ten will be trained for the Army, six for the Air Force and the remaining three for the Navy.

At present, a total of eighteen squadrons exist at the National Defence Academy. A separate squadron for females, named “Sierra”, was proposed but was soon scrapped.

It has now been decided that the females joining the academy will be merged into the existing squadrons. This will ensure better integration and less division amongst the cadets based on gender.

oir test and ppdt

Their training and education will be the same. Further, the PT master and the drill master will receive training at OTA Chennai to learn how women are trained there.

A woman officer and a woman doctor will be available at the academy amongst various other facilities like separate enclosures, washrooms, rooms, etc.

The Sierra squadron will be operational in three years’ time.

Merging females into all-male squadrons, giving training to PT and drills masters, deploying female officers and doctors and providing facilities for women, leads to gender sensitization.

Having a co-gender squadron leads to less gender-based discrimination and more team building.

With an increasing number of women wanting to give the NDA Exam, and with increased intake over the years, the Sierra squadron will soon be operational.

Once the initial gender bias and discrimination is weaned off, the Academy will become sensitized and there will be no cadet differentiating other cadets based on their gender.

spot_img

In conclusion, with the Supreme Courts decision to let women join the National Defence Academy, there have been thousands of women who can realize their dream. This is progress in the right direction.

Slowly but surely, change is being brought in the country’s defence system. And allowing women join the National Defence Academy gives them an opportunity to prove they are just as capable as men.

I wish all women wanting to join the NDA good luck.

I hope this article was insightful.

All About 13 Para SF “Thunderbolt Thirteen” New Special Force Battalion

1
13-Para-SF

Para (Special Forces) also known as Para SF, are a group of special forces battalions of the Parachute Regiment in the Indian Army. These units specialize in various roles including hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, counter-proliferation, counter-insurgency, seek and destroy, and personnel recovery.

spot_img

13 PARA SF

A few days back, we saw news stating that a new Para SF batallion has been raised which is named as 13 Para SF and are also called Thunderbolt Thirteen.

As of now, the Indian Army had total of nine SF battalions – 1,2,3,4,9,10,11,12, and 21.

Now we have the newest batallion resulting in the 10th SF battalion of the Indian Army.

image

Although, not much information about this battalion is there in the open source but choosing the number 13 as it may sound unlucky or not auspicious resounds the fact that this is yet another dreaded covert battalion of the Para SF, much like the 9 PARA SF which was famously known as the “ghost battalion” of the Indian Army, hence the number 13 gives the battalion a deadly profile for what SF is known for.

Also Read: All Para SF Battalions and Their Nick Names

Also, it should be noted that this battalion came into the existence after the raising of the armed forces special operations division (AFSOD). The AFSOD came into operation back in 2019. So we can say that the 13 Para SF can especially cater to the interest of the AFSOD and its growing area of responsibility.

Any Specialization?

As we know that the Indian Army follows a multi-skilled approach in raising such specialized units. Guesses can be made that this battalion might hold multi-skills to its envelope like other PARA SF battalions.

It can also be seen that 13 Para SF can also play a major role in undertaking Special Operations in the mountainous terrain, especially given the experience the Army gained in the recent entanglement with the PLA in the Leh and Ladakh region during the skirmishes in the India China border.

So we can say that raising a new SF batallion is not only customary important but also strategically important to serve the specific needs of the Indian Army.

spot_img

What’s in the Future?

Conjectures can be made by saying that the Indian Army has got enough experience from the recent disputes on the India-China border. And by these experiences Army is implementing what needs to be done. This also gives an indication that the posture of India vis-à-vis China is changing. Now, India is not merely interested in undertaking a defensive posture when it comes to China but is looking forward towards developing offensive capabilities. Given the new approach of the Army, there is the possibility that more such new battalions and the task forces would be created based on modern age requirements as we face the constant threat of two-front conflict.

To check all these, SSB panel conducts a test in GTO, known as lecturette. In this task, the candidate is given a card having 4 topics and a 3 minute time to prepare for it. After 3 minutes, the candidate has to deliver a lecture over one of the selected topic. Well, candidates should stay aware of all aspects related to this task.

spot_img

Some points to remember to lustre your performance in lecturette are given below.

  • Try to choose any of the top two topics
  • Wind up the lecture in time (3 minutes)
  • Use Hindi, in case you stuck while speaking
  • Speak major points, avoid pushing around.

The soul of the lecturette is the composition of lecture. Now, coming to its composition, candidates must go through the following points to frame a lecture.

Lecturette Topics eBook SSBCrack
  1. Make an outline of what you have to speak – The 3 minutes given to you, should be utilized for making an outline of main points that you have to speak out. Just remember the main points. And make a sequence of those points.
  2. Introduction, body and conclusion – Segregate all the points in three segments, i.e. introduction, body/ material and conclusion. All the three segments are to be individually covered in 1 minute each totalling to 3 minutes

Can I Wear My Family Medals?

0

Medals are awarded to soldiers as a mark of honour for military heroism, outstanding service or achievements. The Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and the Marines are awarded medals for outstanding work. In some cases, this honour is extended to the members of the Reserves and National Guards.

spot_img

The medals awarded are to be worn only on the left side of the chest by the recipient.

Coming to the big question; can family members wear medals of an Army soldier?

Spouses, children and parents of gallantry or service award winners can wear the medals on their chest as a mark of respect after the original recipient has passed away.

On 11th July, 2019, an order was passed by the Ceremonial and Welfare Adjutant General’s Branch and it was concluded by the Army that the medals can be worn by the family members while “attending homage ceremonies at war memorials, cemeteries and funerals.”

spot_img

The next of kin can wear the medals of the right side of the chest. Serving Army personnel in uniform, however, cannot wear the medals of their spouse, parent, forefather or children.

A next of kin, civilian or serving personnel, can wear these medals in formal civil attire and on select occasions only after the achiever of the medal(s) has passed.

This decision ensures that the legacy of the medal awardee continues even after their death. It allows their family to honour them in the best way possible.

In other instances, the members of the family are not allowed to wear the medals.

Medals are to be worn only by persons on whom these are conferred, while serving or by ex-servicemen as laid down in regulations for the Army, 1978, revised edition.

Difference Between AK-203 Vs AK-47?

0

Kalashnikov (Калашниковrifle is any one of a series of automatic rifles based on the original design of Mikhail Kalashnikov. They are officially known in Russian as “Avtomát Kaláshnikova” . the AK-203 and AK-47 are different models with different specifications.

To better understand the difference between both the rifles, Let us first understand the specification of both the rifles in brief!

spot_img

AK-203

The AK-203 is a Russian gas-operated, magazine-fed, select-fire assault rifle with a 7.62mm ammunition chamber. It is one of the most recent models of Mikhail Kalashnikov’s AK family of assault rifles. The Kalashnikov Concern in Russia created the AK-203 in the 2010s. Before being renamed to AK-203 in 2019, the weapon was known as the AK-103M.

AK 203

It is considered to be the latest and most advanced version of the AK-47 rifle. According to experts, the Russian rifle is reliable, durable and easy to maintain. It also has better ergonomics, accuracy and density of fire.

The prototype development of the AK-203 rifle’s predecessor, the AK-200 series, began in 2007. In 2010, the first prototype of the AK-200 was built and tested. The AK-200 was updated and dubbed AK-103-3 for the Ratnik programme in 2013.

In 2016, the AK-200 series project was restarted, with the KM-AK kit produced as part of the Obves programme being used to enhance the AK-103-3 assault rifle prototype. The modified assault rifle prototype was first known as the AK-300, then the AK-100M, and eventually the AK-203 in 2019.

The Indian Army is procuring 670,000 AK-203 assault rifles to replace the INSAS, through a contract with Russia.

The first 70,000 rifles were purchased from Russia and delivered in January 2022. The remaining 600,000 rifles will be manufactured in Amethi, India under a transfer of technology agreement, by joint venture company Indo-Russia Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL).

AK 47

The number “47” denotes the year when the rifle was finished.

The AK-47 was first designed in 1945. The fixed-stock variant was placed into active service for selected units of the Soviet Army in 1948, after it was presented for official military trials in 1947. The AK was officially approved by the Soviet Armed Forces in early 1949, and the majority of Warsaw Pact member states used it.

The AK 47 model has gained huge popularity among the world because of many reasons. Some of these reasons are as follows  :-

  • Reliability under harsh conditions
  • Low production cost
  • Availability in virtually every geographic region
  • Ease of use

The AK-47 has been produced in a number of countries and has been used by armed forces, as well as irregular forces and insurgents, all over the world. “Of the estimated 500 million rifles globally, about 100 million belong to the Kalashnikov family, with three-quarters of them being AK-47s,” according to statistics from 2004.

The model serves as the basis for the development of many other types of individual, crew-served and specialised firearms.
