On November 1, 2022, in a small village in Pulwama district—a notorious hotbed for terrorist activities—Major Negi’s acumen was once again put to the test. Acting on precise intelligence about a potential terrorist movement, he meticulously planned and established a Mobile Vehicle Check Post. This proactive measure was aimed at intercepting terrorists who were using the area’s dense network of roads to evade capture.
The operation reached its climax when terrorists, realizing they were trapped, opened indiscriminate fire and lobbed grenades at the check post. In the face of such immediate danger, Major Negi’s response was nothing short of heroic. With exceptional composure and tactical wisdom, he managed not only to retaliate but also to reposition his team to block all possible escape routes.
In a moment that was both tense and pivotal, Major Negi exemplified indomitable courage and leadership. He crawled towards the terrorists’ location, reducing the distance between them to mere meters. When the terrorists, in a desperate bid to escape, rushed out and came face to face with him, Major Negi’s training and instincts took over. With nerves of steel and a complete disregard for his own safety, he charged from his cover and engaged the terrorists directly. This fearless engagement resulted in the elimination of one terrorist and the injury of another.
