Siblings Divya and Digvijay Dhayal Commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army

Colonel Vikram Singh Dhayal’s children follow his footsteps; family legacy of service continues with pride and honour.

In a moment of immense pride for the nation and their family, siblings Divya Dhayal and Digvijay Dhayal have both been commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army, carrying forward a legacy of courage, discipline, and dedication.

The two young officers are the children of Colonel Vikram Singh Dhayal, a decorated officer in the Indian Army. Divya Dhayal was commissioned in September 2023, while her brother Digvijay donned the Indian Army uniform on June 14, 2025. Born together, raised together, and now serving the nation together, their journey is a testament to shared purpose and unwavering resolve.

What makes their story even more inspiring is their background as national-level archers. Both Divya and Digvijay have represented India and won medals in archery before turning their focus to serving the country through the armed forces.

The Dhayal family’s service to the nation goes back generations. Their uncle, Captain Anil Dhayal, laid down his life in Kashmir in 1998. With Divya and Digvijay stepping into uniform, the dream once carried by a martyred soldier lives on through them.

Their commissioning is not just a proud moment for the family but also a reminder of the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice that continues to define the Indian Army. The nation salutes such families whose commitment to India transcends generations.
