Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Command, carried out a crucial review of combat preparedness at the Faridkot Military Station today. The visit was aimed at assessing operational efficiency with a key emphasis on the Chetak Corps, a formation critical to India’s western border defenses.
Having assumed command of the Sapta Shakti Command on July 1, 2024, Lt Gen Singh’s inspection focused on evaluating the readiness and morale of the troops. He was received with full military honours and oversaw a ceremonial gathering, during which he interacted with soldiers and officers, and reviewed their tactical deployments.

In his address, Lt Gen Singh praised the exemplary professionalism displayed by the personnel, particularly highlighting their performance in Operation Sindoor. The high-precision strike operation targeted terrorist hideouts and was lauded for its coordination and effectiveness. He noted the Chetak Corps’ significant contribution to the operation and reiterated its strategic value in safeguarding the regions of Punjab and Rajasthan.
The General delivered his remarks from a podium featuring the emblem of the Regiment of Artillery, known for its historic motto “Gods’ Own.” Established in 1827, the regiment played a decisive role during the 1857 rebellion and continues to be a pillar of strength within the Indian Army’s modern force structure.

Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, a veteran of counter-insurgency operations along the Line of Control, is expected to enhance the Sapta Shakti Command’s readiness and operational synergy through his seasoned leadership and strategic foresight.
