Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command (SWAC), visited the Advanced Headquarters in Gandhinagar today to assess the operational preparedness of air units under his command. The visit centered on reviewing ongoing mission readiness and deepening joint operational coordination with the Indian Army, especially in the context of the recently executed Operation Sindoor.
During the visit, Air Marshal Kapoor interacted with Air Force personnel and senior staff, praising their role in ensuring rapid response capabilities and professional execution during recent operations. He also held a strategic discussion with Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command, to explore integrated combat strategies and inter-services collaboration in high-threat environments.

Operation Sindoor, though largely classified, is believed to have involved coordinated precision strikes and intelligence-led missions along India’s western front. The operation demonstrated the effectiveness of joint planning between the Indian Air Force and Army. Officials say both commands are now working closely to institutionalize protocols for seamless coordination during multi-domain operations.
Air Marshal Kapoor, a seasoned fighter pilot and former Defence Attaché to Pakistan, brings valuable geopolitical insight to India’s defense planning in the region. Lieutenant General Seth, who assumed command of the Pune-based Southern Command in July 2024, is known for his leadership of the XXI Strike Corps and prior roles in Army headquarters.

Their meeting comes as India continues to modernize its joint warfare strategy in line with the Joint Doctrine for Multi-Domain Operations. This doctrine mandates integrated responses across land, air, maritime, space, and cyber domains to deal with increasingly complex security scenarios.
The visit is expected to lead to more joint planning initiatives and readiness assessments, strengthening India’s deterrence posture in a region marked by persistent external threats and volatile borders.
