UPSC has published the written result of NDA 1 2014 which was held this year 2014. On the basis of the result of the written part of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) 2014 held by the Union Public Service Commission on 20th April 2014, candidates with the under mentioned Roll Nos. have qualified for interview by the Services Selection Board of the Ministry of Defence for Admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defence Academy for the 133rd Course and for the 95th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 2nd January, 2015.
NDA 1 2014 Written Result by UPSC
The candidature of all the candidates, whose Roll Nos. are shown in the list, is provisional. In accordance with the conditions of their admission to the examination, “candidates are required to submit original certificates of Age and Educational Qualification to respective Service Selection Boards (SSBs) during the SSB interview.” The candidates must not send the Original Certificates to the Union Public Service Commission. For any further information, the candidates may contact Facilitation counter near Gate C of the Commission, either in person or on telephone numbers 011-23385271/011-23381125 / 011-23098543 between 10:00 hrs and 17:00 on any working day. The result is also available at Union Public Service Commission website http://www.upsc.gov.in .
The mark-sheets of the candidates, who have not qualified, shall be available on the Commission’s website after fifteen (15) days from the date of publication of the final result. (after concluding SSB Interviews) and will remain available on the website for a period of sixty (60) days.

Indian Air force and Indian Navy have aerobatic teams, they are the aerial display teams to flaunt the efficiency of the aerobatics. Indian Air Force has two whereas Indian Navy has one aerobatic team.
Surya Kiran: It is the aerobatic team of the Indian Air Force. This is an aeroplane aerobatic team. Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) was formed in 1996 to serve as the “Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force” and to “showcase the professionalism, the calibre and the mettle of the Indian Air Force”, The team has since performed numerous demonstrations in various parts of the country and abroad, and is today among the three renowned nine-aircraft public display aerobatic teams in the world. The aircraft used in this is HAL HJT-16 Kiran Mk II military trainer aircraft and are based at the Bidar Air Force Station in Karnataka. Soon these aircrafts will be replaced by BAE Hawk. The team consists of total 12 aircrafts, 9 in flying and 3 in standby.
Sarang: It is the helicopter display team of the Indian Air Force. The team flies four modified HAL Dhruv helicopters, also known as ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter). The team was formed in October 2003 and their first public performance was at the Asian Aerospace Show, Singapore, 2004. The name Sarang (Peacock in Sanskrit) is symbolic as it is the national bird of India. It is headquartered in the training command, Bangalore.
Sagar Pawans: Sagar Pawan is the aerobatic demonstration team of the Indian Navy’s Aviation Arm. It is one of the only two naval aerobatic teams in the world, the other being the Blue Angels of the US Navy. The team uses 4 Hindustan Aeronautics HJT-16 Kiran Mk II trainer aircraft, and is based at the Naval Air Station INS Hansa in Dabolim, Southern India. The colour scheme used by the aircraft is dark blue on white. The team started training for aerobatics in late 2001.

Undoubtedly NDA is the best thing that can happen to a young boy, who has just passed out from school. In order to have long career in the Indian Armed Forces, NDA is the best gateway you can take. NDA or National Defence Academy Exam is conducted by UPSC. It is a two stage exam, where the written exam is followed by interview for the successful candidates. This article will cover the written exam portion. I hope after reading this article you’ll be a lot clear about how to prepare for you NDA written Exam. The written exam is divided into two papers, one is of mathematics (300 marks) and the other is of General Ability Test (600 marks: 200 marks English, 400 marks GK).
Strategy: Our strategy while preparing is definitely to cover the maximum portion and solve the maximum questions based on the part we have studied. Now to begin with I would suggest do quality study, do not run after quantity. If you study two chapters and can answer any question based on that, it is better than you studying five chapters and answering only few questions based on them. Since currently you have time of around 3 months, you can study and cover maximum portion. Given below are the tips to prepare for your NDA Exam.
Know your syllabus: The best way to win in a war is know your enemy well, know their strength, weakness etc. Similarly in any exam, the best way to prepare is to know the syllabus well. If you know the syllabus nicely, know its depth, half the battle is won. If you are aware of the syllabus, you’ll be saved any extra effort for the things not mentioned and you’ll be saved from missing anything of importance.
Make a schedule: It is somewhat difficult to do two things simultaneously, i.e. preparing for your board exams and preparing for your NDA exam, which is a bit on different track due to the involvement of GK in it. So make a schedule and follow it strictly. Divide the time you get in spare from your coaching and 12th studies, give some extra time to NDA preparation. When you divide the time you’ll easily do productive work.
Know your strengths: There are areas which you love to study and areas which you do not want to see. So know what things you like. Then mix up the things you like to study and the things you don’t. For example you might like polity and hate geography, so study two chapters of geography then study polity to treat yourself.
Say hello to the basics: NDA exam is not a very ski-fi complicated exam. If you are in touch with your basics then you can solve a lot of questions. But sadly as we move to higher classes we forget these basics. It is strongly advised to clear up your basics in every subject. Understand the things rather than mugging them up.
Make written notes: The best to learn something is to write it. Notes will help you in not only learning things quickly, they’ll come handy if you want to look up something rather quickly. You can study from different sources and combine everything, sort it out and write down the gist at one place, in this way you’ll get reference of all the important things related to any subject.
Revise: Every day before starting anything new revise the older things. They’ll settle down in your mind like cement.
Select your books wisely: There are many NDA reference books in the market, it is advisable to first search thoroughly about any book and then buy it. We try to help you by posting the book reviews. Also merely studying from a single reference book will not help that much, read your course books for better understanding of things. This is because the reference books have ample questions but lack in detailed study material.
Previous years papers: They are an important tool to help you understand the depth of your syllabus. Use them wisely. Also practice as many questions, mock tests as you can.
Consistency: Consistency is very important to get success. This may sound didactic but it’s true. If anybody can help you the best it’s you. Be consistent and do not procrastinate. Every other thing can wait. If you put your 100 percent effort now, your life will change in a much better way after you make it in NDA.

The written exam conducted by UPSC is followed by Service Selection Board Interview for the successful candidates of written exam. The written exam is not a very difficult exam. It is moderate in difficulty and can be cracked with consistent preparations.
Syllabus: If you know the syllabus well, half of your work is done. So get hold of the latest syllabus and prepare according to that.
Time Table: For consistency you need to have a proper time management. Divide the portions you have to cover. Not only this, keep time in reserve to revise the things you studied earlier. If you can manage your time well, nobody can stop your success. So make a practical time table which you can follow and where you have given equal weightage to all your subjects.
Practice and time yourself: Practicing something again and again will tighten its grip in your memory. So practice a lot of mock papers and in fact time yourself while doing so. Think like you are actually giving the exam.
Smart work: Hard work if accompanied by smart work is a deadly combo. Learn different short cuts and techniques to solve things quickly. This is smart work. Analyze the papers and understand which part carries more weight, study that more.
Previous Year papers: They are an excellent tool to determine the trend of the paper. Use them to your benefit.
Make notes: Notes will come handy anytime you want to revise anything. It is not possible to keep 10 books along with you all the time. Plus writing something will make you learn them faster.
Study Material: Choose reliable study material and books. Studying anything from anywhere is not going to help you. Search thoroughly and choose the best.
It is a six day procedure and consists of various tests ranging from psychology, group tests, interview etc. The first stage is a screening test, on clearing which candidates are retained for next four/five days. Know what SSB is: First you need to know in advance and indetail about the tests which are conducted in the SSB, this is again like knowing your syllabus, unless you know your syllabus how can you prepare for your exam? So first read about the various tests, there are ample article present on our website for them.
Brush up your knowledge about self: One most important thing in SSB is how well you know yourself and people who are close to you. You must be aware about the positives, negatives about yourself, strength, weakness etc. Self-introspection is the only tool, and it takes time to know oneself, so the sooner you start the better.
Confidence: Confidence reflects a strong personality. You should appear confident in what you do and what you say.
Physical fitness: In SSB there are group tests which involve physical activity and stamina. So if you have been a couch potato (which is less likely for a boy of 12th standard) get up and start running!
GK: As a 12th grader you are not expected to master everything in this world, yet don’t take GK lightly. You must be aware of the current stuff going on in the world. If not in depth, then too read/listen/watch some news every day. GK has various advantages, one big advantage is that it’ll help you in Group Discussion.
Honesty: Be honest in whatever you do or say in the SSB, do not lie unnecessarily. Being brutally honest will yield some good results.
OLQ’s: In SSB they are checking for 15 OLQ’s. Get to know these OLQ’s and develop them in you.

You should be a keen observer, so that you do not miss on any of the opportunity to learn from anyone. Keep your mind wide open, more than your eyes so that you develop the opportunity to learn from nature also.
Yes you heard it right, every element of nature is constantly motivating each one of us in their own way, just we need to analyse what they want to say. On one hand flow of water says , move forward , don’t look backward whatever be your course of movement and on the other hand fire guides us to glow with the achievements. You should have a constant glow and feel confident for whatever you do. Someone has rightly said:
“If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.”
We know that sky and earth seems to meet, if we have a far sight view of it, but if you start moving towards them you realise the reality that the distance remains the same. There is a learning here too. The things look good from far but the reality might be different. Whatever you think for a particular person or a dream or a thing you wanted to achieve life long, might not be the same when you come close to it. That’s why intelligent decisions are appreciated rather than decisions made in hurry or without giving thought.
Think before you fix a target for you. We see a lot of dream but we need to be realistic, first analyse your potential and the hard work that is required to achieve that particular thing. It might be the case sometimes that you are made for something and trying for something else. This would be simply waste of time. Just analyse that your dream could be converted to reality only if you have that ability to work for it without a second thought in mind. Determination is also needed apart from this to convert dreams in reality. Failures will also be there but you should have the internal strength to ignore everything and just have one thing in mind that you have to achieve the goal. Also remember never forget to take learning’s everyday you fail because it’s called foolishness if you repeat the same mistakes and fail every time for the same reason.
There is no substitute of hard work but yes remember you are the one who has seen that dream and you are the one who is going to make path for it. Keep trying because there is nothing impossible in this world and have faith that you can achieve. Territorial Army notification for civilian candidates has been published on 16 July 2021 and candidates can apply for the TA 2021 exam on the official website from 20th July 2021. Civilian candidates will go through the Territorial Army written exam, PIB and SSB interview.

STANDARD: The standard of the papers in Elementary Mathematics will be a Matriculation level. The standard of papers in other subjects will approximately be such as may be expected of a graduate of an Indian university.
SYLLABUS: Paper – I. Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics. (a) Part – 1. Reasoning. The question paper will be designed to test the candidates ability to complete sequences making logical conclusion based on simple patter of numbers, statements, figures, letters etc as may be expected of a rational thinking person without any special study of the subject. (b) Part – 2. Elementary Mathematics. (i) Arithmetic. Number System – natural numbers, integers, rational and real numbers. Fundamental operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, decimal fraction. (ii) Unitary Method. Time and distance, time and work, percentages, application to simple and compound interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion, variation. (iii) Elementary Number Theory. Paper – II. General Knowledge and English. (a) Part – 1. General Knowledge. General knowledge including knowledge of current events and such matters of everyday observation and experience in scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. The paper will also include questions on history of India and geography of nature which candidates should be able to answer without special study. (b) Part – 2. English. The question paper will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of English and workman – like use of words. Questions in English are from synonyms, antonyms, reading comprehension, Para jumbles, error spotting, jumbled sentences, sentence correction and fill in the blanks
CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION: The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the competent authority.
TIME: Maximum time for each paper is 02 hrs and will be conducted in two sessions.
TYPE OF EXAM: Objective (OMR Answer Sheet will be used).
QUALIFYING MARKS: Minimum 40% marks in each part of the paper separately and overall average of 50%.
PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS:Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.
FEE DETAILS: Candidates’ are required to pay a fee of Rs 200/- (Rupees two hundred only). TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
Territorial Army is part time concept with mandatory two months training in a year and does not provide full time career.
Serving in Territorial Army do not guarantee pension and the same is subject to embodied service as per organisational requirement.
Commission is granted in the rank of Lieutenant.
Pay and Allowances and privileges will be same as Regular Army Officers when embodied for training and military service.
Promotions upto Lt Col by time scale subject to fulfilling laid down criteria. Promotion to Colonel and Brigadier by selection.
Officers commissioned in Infantry TA may be called out for military service for longer duration depending on the requirement.

I am Surabhi Shingote and I stay in Pune. Whenever my friends ask me what do you want to become in your life…..I just have one Answer and that is- join INDIAN AIR FORCE (My Dream , My Life). But when I go in past I really don’t remember how it became my dream. It was from childhood that my mother used to say, ”my daughter is going to become an pilot” and so may be, but trust me guys I had no idea what is pilot, etc etc. but when I was in 8th or 9th may be there used to a serial “chuuna hai asmaan”.i used to watch that serial and it was amazing , based on life in INDIAN AIR FORCE. I got so inspired…mainly I got impressed by the uniform and guys still crazy for the uniform(J) that I decided to join Indian air force.
But life was not easy as it seem. I had some family problem which made our financial condition unstable and because of that I was not able to do aeronautical engineering .but I was not disappointed and searched other ways. My father suggested doing computer engineering and I completed it. I have just given my final year exams and eagerly waiting for my results.
Whenever someone asks me-Why Indian Air force? I just have one answer-It is my dream, can’t think anything other than that. I always think myself in that uniform, and go crazy imagining myself in it. I have given AFCAT in Feb but due to some reason could not crack it but this time double force and triple efforts to achieve my dream because now I can’t wait. I want to go this year only and I will go.
Coming from an non-defence background and living in an small town with some family problem is in it challenge to dream for INDIAN AIR FORCE but officers have challenges and knows to handle it. My dream became my life only because of my family support. Their support is must to achieve my Dream. Can’t imagine other carrier than INDIAN AIR FORCE. And I will because “chuna hai asmaan”(J)

I have gone through the same ggony, but ssbcrack.com articles used to alleviate my pain. I read almost all articles of ssbcrack.com and got many motivating thoughts like.
“If you are failing to prepare then you are preparing to Fail”.
My personal conviction is that we have been PERSEVERANCE to clear the SSB.
It was NDA when I first time in my life tasted the Defense’s blood. I got conference out, but I came to know about many of my shortcomings. After NDA I had almost 2 and ½ year to prepare because I was doing my engineering. I knew UES entry would come.
I joined a NGO “Swayam Jyoti”. This was started by my school seniors. Now all of them are serving the mother land by giving their services in Indian Army as Officers. I learned a lot from them. This was my grooming period. We did many events under this NGO. Our latest and most successful event is conduction Marathon in MHOW with Prestigious “Infantry School MHOW” .in this event our chief guest was Kargil war hero “Maj. D.P Singh”. He is great inspiration. It was my honor to run with such a legend.
This all group activities improved my ability to work in team and conducting big events. I learnt how to manage resources and work in pressure.
I also started reading books , to improve my thought process, And took sports seriously. I started running Marathon.
Then in pre final year of my engineering Indian Army came for campus round and I cleared it but unfortunately due to branch issue I was rejected from central command. Information Technology branch was not allowed in technical entries that year. I got big jolt. Then I applied for TGC. In that was sure I will make it but unfortunately I got Conference Out. I started becoming impatient because I never wanted to do job in ciliv. I knew SSC tech is last option to get Army before leaving college.
Now I got used to report 6 in the morning. Aura was pleasing all the candidates were smartly dressed in formals. After initial documents checkup,we were taken to testing hall. Where we filled forms and then gave two OIR(Officers Intelligence Rating) consisting of 50 questions which needs to be solved in 23 minutes.
Then we were shown a hazy picture. I wrote story related to picture shown and not any pre planned story, which many candidates did and got screened out. After that in Discussion Test, I gave my best in individual narration and took 4-5 entries in G.D with constructive points.
I was screened in. then we did some documents check and filled three PIQ(Personal Information Questioner). Next day was psychology my strategy was simple just make story around picture shown and not having any preconceived idea. I assimilated all the characters shown with background shown. My stories covered all three parts past, present and future (i.e outcome). In TAT wrote my first idea and did 57 SRTs. My speed in SRT was good and I used telegraphic language.
Ex- inspite of writing like “I will go there and will give first aid”
I simply wrote “will go there, give first aid” this saves lot of time.
In SDT I wrote what I actually think about myself.
Immediately after psychological test we were called for interviews. I was second person to be interviewed.
In interview I spoke from heart. I told only truth. Many times he tries to put pressure, but I tackled situation with cool mind. He asked me to do various calculations, which I did very easily. There were lots of technical questions especially from computer Networks. Rest of questions were from my life about family, friends, education, hobby etc . By 11:128 AM I was back in my room.
Next day was GTO day 1.
In GD and GPE I took active part. In snake race I helped many of my group mates in obstacles. And I was very strict about rules, whenever any rule was broken, I repeated that obstacle. In PGT(Progressive Group Task) I was actively giving practical ideas and was implementing then also. Same was in HGT(Half Group Task). Then in IO(Individual obstacles )I did 11 obstacles fearlessly. Remember here these tasks are there to check you fear. So do them boldly. Then in lecturette I gave my lecture confidently with organized thoughts.
GTO day 2
It started with Command task. I got 7 calls in this. In my command task he tried to build pressure but I remain cool. Then there was FGT( final group task) which our group completed. It is important to note that in GTO all test are there to test you group adjust ability not your individual performance. So always take your whole group together.
Next day was conference. They took considerable amount of time before calling me in. when I went in my interviewing officer asked me questions which I was unable to answer in interview. I had prepared these answers from Ante Room. So always find out answers of question you missed in interview.
Finally after lunch result was announced and I was Finally IN.
Words would not suffice to express that Great feeling. You fell like king.
This for my brothers, who are repeaters. Please go for SSB again with improvement and you will get it.

Union Public Service Commission invited application for Combined Defence Services Examination (II) 2014. UPSC has recently published the CDSE 2 2014 notification and CDSE 2 2014 written examination will be conducted by UPSC on 26th Oct, 2015, for admission to the Army, Air Force wings and Navy of the IMA for the 139th Course and SSC 102 Men, SSCW 16th Women OTA, 198th Flying Course and Naval Academy commencing from January 2015 respectively.

Last Date for Online Registration: 18 Aug 2014
Date of Exam: 26th Oct 2014
Likely Result Date: Feb-March 2015
Likely SSB Date – April to June 2015 ( Varies with IAF, Naval and OTA SSB Interviews)

Qualification Required for CDSE 2 2014:
IMA- Male: Degree of a recognized university or equivalent.
IAF- Male: Degree of a recognized University (with Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
OTA- Male and Female: Degree of a recognized university or equivalent.
NA- Male: B.Sc (with Physics & Mathematics) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Indian Military Academy Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July,1991 and not later than 1st July,1996
Naval Academy Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1991 and not later than 1st July, 1996
Air Force Academy Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July, 1992 and not later than 1st July, 1996
Officer’s Training Academy Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier 2nd July, 1990 and not later than 1st July, 1996
Officer’s Training Academy Female candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier 2nd July, 1990 and not later than 1st July, 1996.
CDS 2 2014 Application Fee
The application fee is Rs 200 Only for General and OBC candidates while SC/ST/Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. The candidates can opt for net banking or by depositing the money in cash.
CDS 2 2014 Selection Procedure
The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the written examination followed by Interview/Personality Test.
Important Points
The result of the written part of the examination is likely to be declared in the month of Feb, 2015.
