CDS Exam is also known as the Combined Defence Services Examination, one of the most popular defence exams in the country and it is conducted by UPSC twice every year. As the name suggests, it is a combined exam for Army, Navy, and Air force. Male candidates can join the Army, Navy, and Air force through IMA, OTA, INA, and AFA respectively. Women candidates can only apply for the Indian Army through the CDS exam and join the OTA Chennai.

CDS 1 2022 NOTIFICATION OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS:
Application fee: Rs 200/- SC, ST and women candidates are exempted from application fee
Examination Centers: UPSC CDS 1 2022 exam will be held in 40+ CDS Exam Centers across India.
Cut Off: Students who score more than the cut-off are considered for SSB interview. Cut Off will be declared by the board based on the applications received and candidates qualified in the first stage of the recruitment process. Now we will look into the expected cut off marks for all the academies.
Indian Air Force has published the Merit list of Air Force Academy for the course commencing from Jan 2022. The list has candidates from AFCAT, CDS and NCC entry. The Merit list in order of Merit, entry wise for courses commencing at AFA in Jan 22 is placed below. The Merit List is without the Medical status and is to be used to see the relative position of all candidates recommended by AFSBs. This Merit list does not convey that you have been selected to join AFA. A separate merit list of candidates who are selected to join AFA would be published depending upon order of Merit, medical fitness, choice of branch of the candidate and vacancies available in each branch.
Back in 2018, just 10 days before his Passing out Parade(PoP), Flt CDT (now Flying Officer) Yogesh Yadav of the NDA-133 Course (Echo Squadron) had to eject from his jet i.e. Kiran Trainer Aircraft due to some technical glitch while undergoing a routine training mission. After years of hard work, there was a huge improvement in his health and he has finally passed out today as a Flying Officer that too first in merit (ACCTS). Grit, Determination and Perseverance.
Graduation Parade of Permanent Commission & Short Service Commission of Aeronautical Engineering Course was held at the Air Force Technical College(AFTC) in Bengaluru today. It marks the culmination of 74 weeks of training (22 at Air Force Academy, Hyderabad and 52 at AFTC).
The Graduating Course comprises of 108 Officers including 31 Women Officers. Air Marshal Shashiker Choudhary AOC-in-Chief, Maintenance Command was the Chief Guest for the event and reviewed the parade.
The newly commissioned officers were then administered the ‘oath’ by the Commandant of the Academy in the presence of the Reviewing Officer and other dignitaries. During the Ceremonial Salute and ‘Antim Pag’ (Last Step), a well coordinated and synchronised fly past by Pilatus PC-7, Hawk and Kiran trainer aircraft and Chetak helicopters added colour to the occasion. Many other events, which would otherwise have been part of this Combined Graduation Parade, were cut down as a mark of respect for the CDS, Mrs Rawat and 12 personnel of the Armed Forces who passed away in the recent air accident.
After the ‘Pipping Ceremony’ the Reviewing Officer gave away various awards to the Flying Officers who excelled in diverse training disciplines. Flying Officer Shashwat Bhardwaj from the Flying Branch was awarded the President’s Plaque and the Chief of the Air Staff Sword of Honour for standing first in overall order of merit in the Pilots’ Course. Flying Officer Shrikant Mishra from the Navigation Branch was awarded the President’s Plaque for being first in the overall order of merit in the Navigation Course and Flying Officer Astha Kaur was awarded the President’s Plaque for being first in the overall order of merit in the Ground Duty Officers’ Course.
To mark the successful culmination of Training for 175 Flight Cadets of Flying and Ground Duty branches in the Indian Air Force, a Combined Graduation Parade was held at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal on 18 December 21. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff was the Reviewing Officer (RO) of the Passing out Parade, where he conferred the ‘President’s Commission’ on the graduating Flight Cadets who successfully completed their professional training . The graduating officers also included 28 women who joined the growing number of women officers in the IAF. On this occasion two officers from the Indian Navy, nine officers from the Indian Coast Guard and three Cadets from Vietnam were also awarded Wings on successful completion of Flying training.
The Reviewing Officer was received by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh AVSM VrC VSM ADC, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command and Air Marshal S Prabhakaran VM, Commandant, Air Force Academy. The Reviewing Officer was presented with a Ceremonial Salute by the parade, followed by an impressive march past. The highlight of the parade was the ‘Pipping Ceremony’ in which the graduating Flight Cadets were awarded their ‘Stripes’ (Air Force rank) by the RO.

Today, as you graduate and move into an environment that is challenging and technology intensive, the IAF looks upon young and dynamic officers like you to carry forward the rich legacy of professional attitude, aptitude and temperament shown by your predecessors.” The Chief of the Air Staff further said, “as military officers, you are bound to face certain hardships in your career. Never allow these hardships and constraints to affect you mentally and physically.”
The grand ceremony culminated with the newly commissioned officers marching-out in two columns in slow march to the notes of ‘Anandaloke’ by Rabindranath Tagore, acknowledging the first salute given to them by their immediate juniors. They marched in step past the Reviewing Officer with synchronous strides. The newly commissioned officers passed through the Academy portals to commence their journey in the service of the nation and take-on all future assignments and challenges.
The Combined Graduation Parade holds a special place in the heart of every Air Force officer, as on this particular day, they pledge to safeguard the security, safety, sovereignty and honour of the country. The Commission ceremony remains forever etched in the minds of Air Force officers, as they earn their ‘Stripes’ in the presence of their proud parents.
UPSC has published the final merit list of NDA 1 2021 examination. The following is the list, in order of merit of 517 candidates, who have qualified on the basis of the results of the Written Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission on 18th April, 2021 and the subsequent Interviews held by the Services Selection Board, of the Ministry of Defence for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of National Defence Academy for the 147th Course and Naval Academy for the 109th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). The results of Medical Examination have not been taken into account in preparing these lists.
The candidature of all the candidates is provisional, subject to their submitting the requisite certificates in support of date of birth and educational qualifications etc. claimed by them directly to the Additional Directorate General of Recruiting, Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army), West Block No.III, Wing–I, R.K Puram, New Delhi -110066 wherever this has not already been done and NOT to UPSC.
Indian Army has made the CLAT score compulsory for the Judge Advocate Entry which is a special entry for the law graduate through which they can go for the direct SSB interview without any written exam. From JAG 30 notification onward, CLAT score will be mandatory along with 55% aggregate marks in LLB degree.
MODIFICATION IN ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (NT) JAG ENTRY SCHEME 30TH COURSE (MEN & WOMEN) APR 2023 AND SUBSEQUENT COURSES.
CLAT (PG) SCORE HAS BEEN MADE MANDATORY FOR SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION (NT) JAG ENTRY SCHEME FROM SSC (JAG) 30 COURSE ONWARDS. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE CRITERIA OF MINIMUM 55% AGGREGATE MARKS IN LLB DEGREE, ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL AS AN ADVOCATE WITH BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA/STATE AND SHOULD BE FROM A COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY RECOGNISED BY THE BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA.
CLAT (PG) SCORE OF PRECEDING YEAR IS BEING MADE APPLICABLE WEF APR 2023 ONWARDS. CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR SSC (JAG)-30 COURSE (APR 2023) AND SSC (JAG)-31 COURSE (OCT 2023) WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE CLAT (PG) 2022 SCORE.
ALL CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR SSC (JAG) ENTRY NEED TO REGISTER AND APPEAR FOR CLAT (PG) EXAM OF PRECEDING YEAR.
