Meet Kaamya Karthikeyan, Youngest Girl In The World To Summit Mt Aconcagua

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a class VII student of Navy Children School (NCS), Mumbai, became the youngest girl in the world to summit Mt. Aconcagua, the highest peak in South America and outside of Asia.

She summited the mountain peak of 6962 m height on 01 Feb 2020 and unfurled the Indian tricolour. Years of physical and mental preparation along with regular participation in adventure sports combined with strong character helped the young girl in overcoming many administrative hurdles and extreme climbing conditions to achieve this rare feat.

She has been on a roll this year, she has completed three major climb within six months.
Achievements/ Awards:

  1. Second youngest girl in the world to reach the Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
  2. Youngest person in the world to climb above 20000 ft. This was achieved after accomplishing a record breaking climb of Mt. Stok Kangri in Leh.
  3. Climbed to Gilman Point at 5685 meters / 18652 ft on Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. The little mountaineer battled punishing winds, dipping temperatures and rough terrain to reach Gilman point on the early morning of 25th October and proudly unfurled the national flag.
