Cracked CDS SSB Interview In 1st Attempt From SSB Bangalore

0

Hey pals…… this is Soumitro, I cracked SSB from 17th SSB BOARD Bangalore in my very 1st attempt via UPSC CDS entry.

I am pursuing my final year of engineering. Since my dad is a central govt employee I always wanted to get in civil service, so I started preparing for civil services 8 months back. Just to check my performance level I appeared in CDS and I cleared the written.

Before 1 month of SSB I was confused whether to go or not. But I decided to move on since one of my friends was also going for the same. I didn’t have a single clue that what ssb is all about,  but some things I kept in my mind and they were- have a fully optimistic approach, never fear anyone, keep your points without hesitation and the most important never ever lie there. With this, I religiously followed the tips given in SSBCRACK.ssb recommended

In the interview, they easily sensed that I am preparing for civil services…… so they asked me if I get a chance to join Indian Foreign Service what I will do….. i was trapped in a dilemma that sitting in army interview shall I prefer another service? …. Bt I decided to speak out my heart… I said yes sir why not….. representing my nation in an international forum would be an awesome feeling for me….he smiled and said thankyou gentleman. Since I am a national level swimmer many questions were also asked about my swimming career. A Later result was declared in my favor.

The lifestyle of army men, their aura, the respect they earn among civilians, their handsome salaries, there way of representation and most important it is one of the widest platforms to serve our motherland. These gave me strong reasons to join the army.cds ssb candidate

At last I would say that guys cracking SSB is not a Himalayan task…. If you have a right approach with positive attitude….. you can also crack in very first attempt as I did…. Best of luck guys.

I would like to thank my parents, friends, relatives and my late grandfather who always wanted me to become a class 1 officer of govt of India.

Ayesha Aziz

Ayesha Aziz, 21, is all set to become the youngest Indian woman to fly a MIG-29 fighter jet, after getting her commercial pilot’s license last week. “The MOST precious booklet of my life arrived yesterday and brought me happiness unbound… What once was just a dream is a reality now,” she posted on Facebook on March 31.

Ayesha plans to fly the aircraft at Sokul airbase in Russia. “I want to reach the edge of space, for which we are (in) talking terms with the Russian agency to fly the MIG-29,” she told NDTV, adding “so, that is going to be the next expedition – to fly the MIG-29 fighter jet”.

Her training to become a pilot started while she was in school and Ayesha got her student pilot licence from the Bombay Flying Club when she was 16. Among the three Indians to be chosen for an advanced space training course at NASA, Ayesha finished the two-month training in 2012.Ayesha Aziz

With the aim of flying fighter jets, her message to the girls of Kashmir is that they should chase their dreams and not let anything get them down, to have goals and achieve them. Ayesha’s mother hails from Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, while her father is from Mumbai.

Meet Squadron Leader Anioushka Lomas First Woman Engineer For Fighters

0

An electronic engineer by qualification, 29-year-old Lomas grew up in Delhi to an engineer father and an anthropologist mother. Flying was her childhood dream. “I was three when we lived in Dalhousie. The Pathankot airbase was not far, and as a toddler, I spent days gazing at the fighter aircraft zipping across the sky,” she says. A determined girl, Lomas knew she wanted to work with nothing less than fighter aircraft. “All the systems you are trained on, you are selected for based on merit.

After I completed my training, I had to submit a form with my top three preferences—I wrote Mirage, Mirage, Mirage in all three spaces,” she laughs. And Mirage 2000 is exactly what Lomas got. “I love what I do. Most engineers don’t even get to touch a fighter aircraft, while I get to start the engine, do the checks and strip it open.”

Lomas keeps incredibly busy outside of her job: she has a combat para jumping patch; she’s a Hindustani classical singer; and also a newlywed, with a husband who lives in a different city. “It works beautifully. I am a single woman for five days and a married woman on weekends,” she laughs.

As a woman, what does it take to thrive in a male-dominated field? “A woman officer invests more dedication, hard work and follows a zero-error effort by being more situationally aware and cautious,” states Lomas. “Women have a better capacity to handle emotions and work pressures and are more sensitive to the needs of their colleagues and subordinates, which helps build a good rapport.”

Story Of Brave CRPF Commandant Cheetah Who Took 9 Bullets In An Anti-Terrorist Operation

0

Commandant Cheeta received information from Jammu and Kashmir police of two terrorists hiding in the Hajin village of Bandipora district. To tackle these, a joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and Army was carried out.

According to a report in The Week, Cheeta killed top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Musaib. He even fired 16 rounds despite sustaining injuries..

More than two months ago a soldier took nine bullets, including one in the head, during an encounter. He fell into a coma which lasted over a month, but then after treatment is now ready to go home. Doctors are calling it nothing short of a miracle.crpf chetan cheeta

CRPF commandant Chetan Cheetah survived severe injuries to his head, upper limb, waist, pelvic region, eye and hand, and to the wonder of doctors at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences, has recovered well enough to be discharged.

The 45-year-old, commanding officer of the 45th Battalion of CRPF led his team to the Parray Mohalla encounter of Hajin area in Bandipora on February 14.

A Lashkar-e-Taiba terror suspect attacked, and in the ensuing encounter, three security personnel died and eight, including a civilian, were injured. Witnesses said Cheetah fired 16 rounds even after taking bullets on his body.

He was airlifted to AIIMS Delhi from the army base hospital at Srinagar and those who visited him then, including MoS Home Kiren Rijiju, had very little hope of his recovery. “His condition was so bad then that this recovery seems like a miracle,” Rijiju told CNN-News18.

Several doctors were part of the AIIMS team which treated Cheetah. His right eye could not be saved but his other vitals are stable.

“Eye specialists, neurologists, plastic surgeons all worked to snatch Cheetah back from jaws of death,” a CRPF statement said.Rijiju

On March 16, a month after the attack, he was moved out of the ICU and taken off ventilator support.

On March 20, he was given food orally for the first time in one and half months, much to the relief of the doctors and his colleagues in the CRPF.

On Wednesday, Rijiju visited Cheetah again in the hospital, thanking doctors and telling the brave soldier that his fight will inspire others in the forces.

“He is doing very fine. It’s miraculous, first of all, I would like to thank the team of doctors from AIIMS. That day when I visited him I never expected him to speak to me some day” said Rijiju.C8jHD05VYAAaHCW

” He was smiling and was excited to get back on duty. This shows his ability to survive and his will power,” Rijiju told reporters outside AIIMS.

Cheetah will go back home to his wife Uma Singh and his two children where further treatment including physiotherapy will continue.

What Happens To An Air Force Pilot After Emergency Ejection

0

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has lost nearly a squadron strength in aircraft failures, resulting in a significant loss of life owing to outdated equipment. For the Indian pilots who managed to eject to safety in the nick of time, surviving was only the beginning of their upward battle. A mid-air ejection is a harrowing and violent experience which takes a traumatic toll on the human body, often with life long consequences.

“One In Three Pilots Risk Spinal Fracture”

According to a detailed study on the matter “one in three pilots sustain spinal fractures.” This significant trauma to the spine is a direct result of the violent amount of force through which the ejector seat is rocketed out of the plane; the sitting position further amplifies the level of injury during the ejection. The gravitational pull experienced during ejection is 14 to 16 times the regular gravitational force applied at 200G per second. Lower Back Injuries and abrasions are the most common of injuries faced by air force pilots.

Ejecting from an aircraft

WW2 aircraft 1
Bombers during the Second World War had been notorious for their injury-inducing ejection seats

In the early days of military aviation, broken limbs and popped shoulders were a result of emergency ejection. In fact, aircraft used in both World Wars, were notorious for their ejection related trauma. While modern ejection seats are far more sophisticated as compared to their Great War counterparts, it is still in no way safer for modern-day fighter pilots. An emergency bailout from an aircraft is still pretty much the end of a pilot’s flying career, and in extreme scenarios, a death sentence! According to several bodies of research on ‘Ejection Trauma’, some of the standard injuries sustained during a fighter pilot’s attempted bid to safety are as follows:

Pilot lung damage 1
Fighter Pilots are susceptible to lung damage due to sudden exposure of airflow following an ejection

A Summary Of Injuries Which May Be Sustained In The Course Of An Emergency Ejection

  • Severe burns from MDC splatter followed by shrapnel injuries from fragmented fabric. The initial launch of the pilots’ seat causes a brutal shock to the fighters neck and lower and mid-portion of the spinal cord, which are some of the most vulnerable parts of the skeletal system.
  • Following the initial ejection, the pilot is violently thrust into the airflow, with the sudden exposure running a significant risk of lung damage.
  • The swift emergency deployment of the parachute may result in further snatch injuries which have the potential to aggravate injuries to the already traumatised spinal cord.
  • A pilot further runs the risk of exposure to unavoidable lower limb injuries in the event of low altitude evacuations. Forced parachute landings may even result in the loss of the pilots’ legs.
  • Pilots suffer from lung damage following a sudden exposure to atmospheric pressure after ejection

What Follows An Ejection?

Following an emergency bailout, pilots are made to undergo a series of physiological and medical evaluations to check their medical fitness to serve in the Air Force, and then determine, wheater they are fit to return to flying duties. The impact of ejections to the medical health of a pilot is to a large extent dependent on the aircraft he/she is flying, with certain modern aircrafts designed to allow the pilot two ejections without significant medical injury. This relative safety feature has been incorporated in modern jets, keeping in mind the likelihood of ejection as a contingency and the physical toll an individual ejection takes.

The Toll Of Repeated Ejections

Oftentimes fighter pilots in the IAF have been forced to eject on multiple occasions due to engine snags or other technical failures; this has significantly hampered the career progression of several distinguished air warriors. Repeated ejections significantly affect a pilots quality of life with the risk of paralysis. Consequences may be long-drawn, with the symptoms and other spinal complications of both single or successive ejections, developing later in life, leading to ailments such as chronic back pain, slip disks, spinal bulges among a host of other spinal complications.

The Way Forward

Investment into high-end military aircraft and proper maintenance of jets are likely to decrease the likelihood of the routine aircraft failures Indian pilots are facing, allowing the flying aces to retain their functionality.

In a shocking incident, an Indian soldier has been arrested on Monday at the Srinagar airport after two grenades were found in his luggage.

The soldier has been identified as Gopal Mukhiya, a part of the 17 JAK Rifles, and he serves at the Line of Control near the Uri sector in Kashmir, where several soldiers were killed last year in September 18.

As per information retrieved from the police, the concerned soldier – a resident of Darjeeling – was supposed to take a chartered flight to Delhi but was nabbed when the baggage loaded with the grenades were found. However, the soldier has clarified that the explosives were given to him by an officer.

Police said that they are investigating the matter, and cannot believe the soldier without any evidence.army soldier arrested

While it is one of the heaviest guarded airports in India, soldiers are retrieved of the checking process at entry. A thorough investigation will be carried out to get to the root of this matter.

In a separate incident yesterday, a grenade attack on a joint convoy of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police in Srinagar’s Nowhatta area on Sunday left one soldier dead while 11 others, including two CRPF personnel were injured.

The critically injured were shifted 92 base hospital of Indian army in Badamibagh. Security forces have launched a search operation in the area to catch the attackers.

Indian Army May Use ‘BOSS’ To Protect Forces From Cyber Attacks

0
indian army cyber soldier

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push for enhancing cyber security, the Indian Army is testing the indigenous BOSS (Bharat Operating System Solutions) to guard its communication and information networks from espionage by foreign players.

In his maiden address to the senior commanders of the three services, the prime minister had asked them to guard against the threats in the cyber domain and after that, Army’s Jammu and Kashmir-based Northern Command started the evaluation of the indigenous operating system for military requirements.

‘The Northern Command has been evaluating the BOSS at its headquarters as an option for replacing the foreign solutions to provide more security to the critical security-related information of the forces deployed there,’ government sources told Mail Today.

‘The software, developed by CDAC Chennai, is being customised for meeting the requirements of the military and during the evaluation last week, it was moving ahead satisfactorily,’ they said.

BOSS is a software developed to benefit the usage of free software in the country and considered to be an important initiative by military analysts when cyber is fast emerging as warfare domain. indian army boss cyber attack

Army sources said protection of vital information in cyber domain is critical for the forces deployed in the command which faces both China and Pakistan as even if the itinerary of a small convoy gets leaked, it can be proven dangerous.

At present, the Indian military is using foreign-origin software, which have been frequently coming under the scanner for working for their countries’ intelligence agencies and cannot be considered safe in the prevailing atmosphere of leaks and cyber espionage.

Currently, a number of equipment in the cyber infrastructure used by the public sector agencies supporting military communication is sourced from foreign manufacturers.

Fearing espionage through foreign equipment, an advisory was issued couple of years ago by the Air Force to its personnel against using the phones of a particular phone firm.

Army officials from the Corps of Signals – which is responsible for maintenance and looking after entire gamut of military communication – said creating our own information and communication technology infrastructure would also help in providing opportunity for ‘Make in India’ products in the sector.

India is also coming up with a tri-service cyber agency which will deal with the matters of cyber security and have both offensive and defensive capabilities while dealing with issues in that domain.

Recommended In First Attempt For Indian Navy

Hi guys my name is Harsha and I am from Bangalore. In my family, no one is from defense background and it was because of my interest that I applied for SSC in Navy. Initially, I had thought that SSB was very easy to crack as I hadn’t heard from many people about the different procedures that an SSB interview has. As everyone does, I started going to many sites on google and searching for different books available. One fine day I got this book written by Cdr. Natarajan sir and went on to order it online. Later on I got the book home and went on to read the book and started preparing for it. Only when I started reading that I realized the real depth of the ssb. Slowly, I started digging deep into the procedure and I realized that there were a lot of things I had to perfect on. I started reading newspapers and started watching news channel. Not that I was not watching before but this time I was watching it with the intent to remember it as well for the interview. Soon things started getting little complicated for me. I had a thought that the book wasn’t alone enough because it only covered one aspect but a lot had to be covered. Then I started to look for coaching classes and I finally landed with the video tutorials made by Cdr. Natarajan sir. It was good and I learned a lot from it as well. After all the preparation I started going through different experience from ssb recommended candidates telling their experiences and also I used to get freaked out looking at the selection rates as I thought that it was highly unlikely I would get recommended. Finally the day came when I had to go to Vishakhapatnam and I boarded the train. The whole train journey I was thinking what to answer in the interview and how the whole process is going to be like. I was accompanied by my Dad to Vishakhapatnam. He kept on telling me the whole way that it is going to be fine if you don’t make it, it’s okay but I was the one who was tensed all the time.

Screening

Finally after the stay, the First day had come and I was attending the aptitude. I had only attended 30 out of 50 and second also I attended only 40 out of 50. During my PPDT narration, I could not complete the whole story at all and I could only complete 3-4 lines of it as the officer told next. I was a bit nervous as I could not complete the story. I was intensely listening to other’s story and as soon as the narration was over I started the discussion and told about number of characters etc.  Mostly everyone agreed. Then I suggested the story of one particular chest no. to be the common story as the theme was good. Soon the discussion started and I also took part in the discussion. We modified the story somewhat and were about to reach a consensus when we were asked to go out. Finally, at the end of the day, I was one of the 24 who were screened in.

Psychology

The next day was psychology test which I did very well. I had understood the concept very well from the book and videos, so I was able to conceive stories quickly. WAT was good as I had practiced a lot to write short sentences from the book. Several words were same from the book so that all helped. I could complete about 49 WAT. SRT was quite simple. I had practiced well and hence I could perform. The idea of writing full action is important I suppose. There were at least 15 SRT which were same from the book itself and the others were somewhat similar. Some situations were repeated and my responses were also more or less same. My SD was normal and was corrected by Natarajan Sir so I just remembered it and wrote it there.

GTO

The 3rd & 4th day was the GTO days. The GTO days were very special for me as I knew I had performed well in Psychology. I did contribute during both the GD and GPE. I kept in mind all the points while writing the GPE answers as explained by Natarajan sir in his video. PGT and HGT was complete fun as I was able to spot each and every solution based on the concept of cantilever explained in the video. Like most, even I felt that worried initially if I will be able to crack these physical tasks but I sailed smoothly. My command task was initially of middle level but as I went on cracking it, the GTO removed some helping material and made the task difficult but I continued with it till such point that I was fixed. Finally, I thought I have done fairly well in GTO also. The GTO did ask me I have attended some coaching.

Interview

Coming to my interview, I was very upset with the way I performed with my interview as it was my first interview. I was literally asked to go out as he got to know that I was very nervous. I was called in again and I went through the entire process. I was very composed this time and answered all the questions fairly well. I could not answer some of the questions in the GK section. Finally, after 4 days of grueling tests, I had come to the conference day. I had a very deep confidence in my mind that I would get recommended.  I was asked some of the questions which I could not answer during the interview. I was prepared for it.  I was fairly confident during the conference unlike the interview.

At last, the final moment arrived. One officer came to addressed the crowd and announce the result and I was the only one cleared. Omg!!! It was such a feeling I cannot explain with words. Finally I went on to clear medicals and now waiting for my call letter. In the end, I would say, if you prepare well from the book and the video, there is no need to go for any coaching.

Thank you
