Board Exams and SSB Preparation

Board Exams and SSB Preparation

One golden opportunity to join the forces is after class 12th. You can join through NDA, Army Tech Entry or Navy Tech Entry. The first one is a written test based entry while the former two are direct entries. For NDA you need to give a written exam and if you qualify that then you’ll get a call for SSB. For the direct entries you will be called for SSB based on your 10+2 marks. So you need to score well in your board exams as well.

The problem here is that most of you appear for SSB while still in 12th, and some appear just after it. That leaves you with a very little time for your preparation for SSB. Many of you also appear for various competitive exams, the preparation of which too takes time, again that leaves you with even lesser time for your SSB preparation. This phase of your life is very crucial and you need to be very sincere at this time. Given below are few tips to help you out at this time, when you need to prepare for your board exams and SSB both.

  1. Decide your priorities: Of course Boards are the first priority, but here I am talking about deciding the priority between the forces and other competitive exams. Other exams hardly have any age limit, but in forces you have a strict age limit. So if you really want to get into it it’s now or never for you. This is so because as and when you pass your 12th, you are almost near the upper age limit and that leaves you with hardly 2 or three chances. If you are very much into joining the forces then you must put in all your focus into it. You always take a year break and prepare for all other exams. You can give them along with your boards also but you must focus more on the SSB.

  2. Do one thing every day: What creates more problems is procrastination. If you do small portion of something every day it’ll definitely take lesser time than piling up everything together and doing all at the same time. Keep in mind that you SSB might fall very near to your board exams also, in which case you’ll be confused and might panic on how and what to prepare. Thus it is better to do your studies in a timely manner and also prepare for SSB along side.
  3. Make correct use of breaks: You do get holidays, after exams, during festivals etc. Make judicious use of it. Nobody is asking you to sit whole day with books, it’s just a matter of few hours. Study every day in holiday. Just sit for few hours. Focus more on your SSB preparation during holiday.
  4. The ‘Will’ factor: If you really want to do something, nobody can stop you. Of course you can manage both, your boards and your SSB together and get through with flying colors in both. All you need is the will to do it.

How Difficult Is SSB Interview?

0
ssb-rtpcr-report-must

Service Selection Board interviews are a six day process, in which your personality is monitored and matched with the suitability of joining the forces. If you are suitable you are recommended otherwise not. We tend to hear different theories about this interview from different sources. People getting recommended have different opinions, and those not getting recommended have yet another opinion. I am sure that before going for SSB you try to collect as much of information regarding it as possible. And thus you hear different versions of SSB stories from different sources. Here we will focus on understanding how difficult SSB interview is? To begin with, SSB is not a normal job interview where you have to study your head off in order to crack it. SSB is different.

SSB Interview Preparation Material [ 100% Recommended]

It hardly checks your knowledge; it just checks your suitability for the forces. This suitability is not entirely based on your knowledge. You can thus say that SSB is a multidimensional interview. It checks your entire personality. Secondly SSB is not the basis of judging you, whether you are good for doing something in your life or not, it just checks your suitability for the forces. Even if you don’t crack SSB, you can still do very well in other fields. The entire selection procedure of SSB is based on the 15 Officer Like Qualities, which a candidate must possess in order to be suitable for the forces. You can check these qualities in articles present on our website.

spot_img

In SSB interview your personality is under continuous supervision. Each aspect is observed minutely and closely. You can take an idea from the fact that you are checked in every aspect. You are checked for the basic aptitude of an officer in the screening tests, you are checked for your thoughts in the psychological testing. You are checked for your physical fitness and group behavior in the Ground Tests. You are checked individually in the interview with the Interviewing Officer. The people in the board are very experienced and efficient bunch of people. They can easily catch you if you are lying.

How difficult is ssb interview

All the tests in SSB are meant to test you under pressure. This is because in real life situation, an officer has to perform judiciously and efficiently under pressure, so a candidate must give positive response under pressure. The constraint of time is applied in the testing and most of the tests are designed in such a way that they get difficult with time. The level of difficulty is not much. If you look closely you will realize that SSB is more about logic and positive attitude than intelligence. Of course the basic intelligence needs to be there. The reason why you are told to be honest all the time in SSB is because if you lie and get selected somehow, then you might suffer a lot in training and in service because your personality is not meant for it. To conclude I would like to say that SSB is not difficult, it is rather tricky. You are expected to be genuine all the time. Being logical and practical is more important in SSB than being intelligent. You can check the articles on OLQ’s to understand what they are. SSB is six days of learning; you get to learn a lot about yourself and your strengths. It is not difficult, it is just about doing the right thing at the right time.

Importance of Board Exams for Defence Entries

Importance of Board Exams for Defence Entries

Defence forces of India is an attractive career option which you can take after your class 12th. This is however is applicable to only boys and girls can apply only after graduation. There are mainly three entries through which you can join the forces:

  1. NDA: National Defence academy is the dream destination for many 18 year old guys. This academy is located in Khadakwasla, pune and is a tri service academy, where the cadets for army, navy and air force get trained together for a period of three years. On successful completion of which they get trained for their pre commissioning training in the respective academy of the arm of their choice, for a period of one year. NDA exam is conducted twice every year. The successful candidates of written exam are called for SSB. There is no minimum criteria for percentage in this.
  2. 10+2 Army Tech Entry: This is a chance for those who want to become both engineer and a Fauji. You can apply for this entry and make your way to Indian Army, getting a chance to do engineering from Officers Training Academy, Gaya. The mode of entry is direct, that means there is no written exam conducted. You have to apply on the basis of your 10+2 percentage. The cutoff is decided by the Army and people having percentage above that cutoff are called for SSB.
  3. 10+2 Navy Cadet Entry: This is the same thing as Army 10+2 Tech entry, including the same eligibility criteria and procedure of selection. In this also you are directly called for SSB on the basis of your 10+2 board exam marks.
How to join army after 12th exams
So now you are familiar with the three types of entries through which you can realize you dream of joining the forces. And after having a look at their eligibility criteria you’ll get to know that two out of these three entries are a direct entry, which means you need to score well in order to get a SSB call. One more thing to note here is that the magnitude of the number matter here and not the board, this means that no matter what board you are from there won’t be any leniency for you because your board is more difficult than some other board.
nda exam coaching
Board exams are probably the first important exam you give in your life. The marks you score in board exams are important for you to apply for some of the direct entries, like this one. With the increasing competition day by day the cut off is going high for these entries. Also your board marks help you to get in the merit list if you get through SSB. That is suppose you and one more person have the same SSB marks, so how will your position in the merit list be decided? It’ll be decide on the basis of your 12th board marks. And even a few marks can make a difference.
So put in all your efforts to get good marks in your board exams. Still there is time, if done in a planned and systematic way nothing is difficult. Sit down, plan out and work on your plan.

SSB Repeaters Exclusive: Motivation is the Key

SSB Repeaters Exclusive: Motivation is the Key

I will not begin by saying come depressing crap like “life is this” and “life is that”, I would like to begin by saying that you are young, you have the time, and you can conquer the world! It is a wonderful thing in itself that you have chosen joining the forces as your aim. Now all you need to do is be motivated all this time, for the same. Once you go to SSB and get rejected there are chances that you are clueless about what went wrong. SSB is one such interview where it is very difficult to make out that where you lacked or in which area you did not perform well. There might be hundreds of thoughts running in your mind, hundreds of calculations that what might have gone wrong, what to do about it. You might have numerous expectations on you; you might have expectations from yourself. It is all very common and very good!

The thing is once you go for SSB, you get the hang of it, this is so because you get to see the life of fauj so closely that you automatically become interested, now this draws you more and you become more attracted towards joining the forces. You put in all your effort to get through it. But sadness, you don’t. Then starts the introspection part, putting in all your energy to understand your mistakes, some get selected in the very next attempt, some are still trying, and you are still trying I know!
A few of you start losing hope, talking all negative things, blaming it on luck and other non-sensible factors. The thing is SSB is all about saying and doing the right thing at the right time, this is by far the best things about SSB I have understood. I have seen people getting selected in their nth attempt and trust me all they did in each attempt was perform their best. Who will not perform their best in any exam? It is very human like that we try to do our best in whatever exam we give. In fact you would have read stories of successful aspirants on our website only.

SSB Repeaters Tips to clear SSB Interview

One thing that all successful people had was the motivation to never give up. Seriously motivation is the key. You can do anything provided you ‘want’ to do it. If you really want to do something you will definitely be success in that. SSB is no different. You will have the urge of giving up many times, but remember a soldier never gives up; you are going there to become one. Keep on trying till you are eligible, I am sure if you are putting in all your efforts you will get through, and even if you don’t you’ll gain something.
You need to enjoy every part of it, put in your best effort and enjoy it as much as you can, some days down the line when you’ll look at it you’ll definitely see the things you learnt. Har maidaan fateh!

Tejas – Another Star in IAF’s Galaxy

0

Tejas is a multirole fighter. Multirole fighters are such planes which are designed in such a way that they can quickly switch between multi-roles (like attack, fighter etc.). Multirole fighters are comparatively more economical in comparison to typical fighter aircrafts. Dassault Mirage-2000 is one such multirole fighter which performed exceptionally well during the 1999 Kargil war, which encouraged India to acquire more aircrafts of such type.

Why is Tejas Special?

Tejas has several reasons associated with it which make it special. These reasons are:
  1. Tejas is special aircraft because it is being indigenously developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
  2. It is second supersonic aircraft after HAL Marut which is being developed by HAL.
  3. It is a tail-less aircraft, that is it has no tailplanes or canard.
  4. Tejas integrates technologies such as relaxed static stability, fly-by-wire flight control system, multi-mode radar, integrated digital avionics system, composite material structures, and a flat rated engine.
  5. It incorporates a ‘glass cockpit’ in which information is displayed in ‘real-time’ to the pilot.
  6. Tejas is supersonic and highly maneuverable, and is the smallest and lightest in its class of contemporary combat aircraft.
  7. It’ll serve both Indian Air Force and Navy.
Tejas - Another Star in IAF’s Galaxy
Specifications:
  • Tejas is a light combat aircraft.
  • It is single seat, single engine multirole light combat aircraft.
  • It has pure double delta wing configuration, with no tailplanes or canard, and a single dorsal fin.
  • It has a length of 13.20 m (43 ft 4 in), wingspan of 8.20 m (26 ft 11 in) and height of 4.40 m (14 ft 9 in).
  • It has a maximum speed of Mach 1.6 (1,350 km/h) calibrated airspeed (CAS) at high altitude, reached in testing of IOC-I and theoretically capable of Mach 1.8.
  • It is mounted with 23 mm twin-barrel GSh-23 cannon with 220 rounds of ammunition.
  • Air to air, air to surface and anti-ship missiles are mounted on this aircraft.
  • Several Bombs and rockets are also mounted.

Where is Tejas now?

This all-weather aircraft is being extensively tested by HAL in its divisions in Bangalore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Nashik etc. It was cleared for use in 2011 for Air Force Pilots. It received its third operation clearance in December 2013 and to receive its final operational clearance it needs to be certified on six more criteria’s. It was expected to receive its FOC by 2014, but it is pushed away a little. Tejas will hopefully be inducted by the end of 2014.

How to Do Good in Progressive Group Task of GTO?

0
progressive group task

GTO has about nine activities conducted under one head and all activities are vital to test the OLQ’s present in the aspirant. There are different techniques to handle all different activities. In this article we will consider the techniques that can be helpful for getting PGT successfully done. PGT as the name suggests is a task where a set of obstacle is presented in front of the aspirant, which has four levels usually and as per the nature as you succeed in crossing tasks and move to the next, the tasks start gets tougher.

There would be a definite set of rules that needs to be followed as instructed by the instructor at the very beginning. Also the situation is made tougher by providing certain load and imposing colour conditions that will be clearly elaborated by the GTO. Also some helping material is provided by the GTO to move ahead and succeed. Helping material includes balli, plank and rope. The GTO looks for the following in this round:

  • Ability to work in the team.
  • Ability to convince group to a common solution or getting acceptance for your solution.
  • Quickly getting the solution for the given problem.
  • Getting not only yourself but your team through the hurdle.
    progressive group task
Remember to follow the rules as that can prove fatal if you don’t do so; also follow the following tips that can prove helpful:
  • Remember to use the helping material fully as that is given to make some structures that can take you forward.
  • Follow out bound rules, group rules, and colour rules told in the beginning strictly. There might be instances when the GTO would analyse and seek clarifications that a rule was not being followed. Since the GTO keeps a keen eye on everyone, it’s always better to accept the mistake and repeat the tasks.
  • Never try to force group with your ideas. This is a collective task that needs to be done with intelligence,. Your part is to just give ideas that group readily accepts.
  • This test is a test to look the group coordination and no individual assessments are valid here.
  • Never look at the assessors what they are doing; you should be busy in solving the problems given rather than noting what assessors are doing.
  • PGT has a limited time and that has to be used to cross the four barriers, never get stuck to a idea, try it and immediately change to other workable idea if some idea is not working.
  • Your behaviour is the thing that can change the chances for you, never be aggressive whatever the situation is, just keep trying and work hard to take all the team members together.
Hope these tips work for you and get you in for your dream job. Still if you are bothered by the myths and want individualised mentoring, counselling related to SSB, preparation through one to one interaction, tips and tricks or has queries drop me a mail at [email protected] and it would be my pleasure to resolve it. The success path is very simple unless you have the right person to hold your hand and guide.
