India Celebrating its 82nd Air Force Day
You have never lived until you almost die, for those who fight for it Life has a different flavor that the protected will never know”. The Indian Airforce was founded in the year 1932 as the Royal Air Force of the British Empire. It was first an auxiliary force and then the prefix royal was added to it in recognition of its services in the Second World War. After independence the Royal Air Force served India, and the term royal was dropped after India became a republic. Air Force say is celebrated every year on 8th of October, in order to celebrate the foundation day of Indian Air Force. This year, i.e. in 2014, India will celebrate its 82nd Air Force day.

Indian Airforce is the air arm of India. IAF is responsible for guarding the skies of India. They have proven time and again their worth. IAF is not only responsible for participating in wars to safeguard our motherland but also to provide help in any relief operation. IAF is a huge family of approximately 175,000 personnel’s and 1500 aircrafts. Our Air Force constitutes of different types of aircrafts like fighters, multirole fighters, transport, trainers, tankers, helicopters and drones. It is decorated with many personnel’s who have received gallantry awards for their valor in and away from the battlefield. IAF has successfully participated in number of operations conducted by India and UNO.
82nd Air Force Day

Many ceremonial acts are conducted across the air force stations all over the country. The Airforce Family takes part with great enthusiasm in the celebrations. Though Indian Air Force is not a national festival like Independence Day or Republic day but yet it has importance of its own. As a citizen of India its our responsibility to recognize this day atleast. Who doesn’t loves the sprawling jets, the feeling of flying free in the air, the pride of serving the motherland. On this Air Force Day lets pledge to spend atleast five minutes in reading about our air arm. Jai Hind and Happy Air Force Day.

How To Prepare For Written Exams

How To Prepare For Written Exams

There are two modes of entering as an officer in the defence forces of India. One is direct, i.e. based on the percentage of the last qualifying exam and the other is through written exams. Both are followed by an SSB Interview. Here we’ll be discussing about the written exam. Written exams are helpful especially for those who do not have such a high percentage and thus have negligible chances of getting shortlisted through the direct mode. Candidates specially have such a complain about navy, where the shortlisting is done on rather higher percentage.

Preparation for written exams is something which requires a continuous and rigorous effort and it can’t be done overnight.
  1. Focus and regular practice: Preparation for written exams is something which requires a continuous and rigorous effort and it can’t be done overnight. So the first thing you need to excel in your written exam is focus and hard work. You need to study every day for it, no matter for how short time you look through the things but you must do it on a regular basis.
  2. Identify your potential: Different people need different amount of time to grasp things. It is very important for you to identify what your potential is and thus realize what amount of time you’ll take to understand and grasp things.
  3. Time Management: It is another important aspect of preparation. You need to divide time decisively amongst the topics in order to give appropriate time to each. You also need to balance and divide time between your school/college studies and competitive exams studies.
  4. Study Smartly: Smart work is the new trend. Hard work combined with smart work gives the maximum yield. So you need to work smartly. Study the paper and draw out the sections which are given higher weightage and thus focus more on them. Study the trend of the paper.
  5. Make Notes: The notes you make will help you at the time of last minute revision. They’ll be a good and important compilation of all what you have studied by now. Writing helps in learning things also. So doing one thing, i.e. making notes can have multidimensional benefits.
  6. Study Material: Go for reliable study material. There are a number of books available. It is advisable to check their reviews and then buy them. You can get good online study material also. You can subscribe for related online tests and can also subscribe to relevant websites, pages etc. These will give you regular update on the date, time exams, and the syllabus as well as keep you updated with the current study material. Refer to the model and previous year’s papers also.
  7. Current affairs: This portion is huge; you need to pay a little time to it every day. Current affairs are asked in every exam related to defence. So if you are planning to give more than one exam then it’ll be a common portion for both. If you prepare this portion well, it’ll help you to a great extent in the SSB as well.

Get Set Go for the Psychological Tests

Get Set Go for the Psychological Tests

Psychological Tests are a major part of your testing the SSB interview. They generally form the base of your selection. There are various assumptions however that whose opinion matters the most, the interviewing officer’s or the psychologist’s, but to be on a safer side you need to pass this test in order to ensure your success. The psychological testing is conducted by the psychologist, who can be either a civilian or an officer. This is the generally the first test conducted after you get screened in (except for AFCAT Entries where PABT is the first one).

The psychological testing consists of four different tests, each carrying their own important and designed to extract your genuine personality. These tests are designed in order to stress your mind under severe time constraint so that you give nothing but the truth in your reaction. The psychologist is a very experienced person who based on your responses in the test decides whether or not you are fit for the services. Remember that the psychologist never meets you in person unlike the IO or GTO, so the only way he/she gets to know you is through your responses.
Hence basically these tests are a way to check your thought process. Here I am going to give you a few tips which will come handy for your tests, in order to know more details about a particular test please refer to other articles on our website.
  1. Practice: Practicing in advance is very important for these tests, as I have already mentioned, there is severe time constraint, so you need to think and write very fast. Get the sample test materials from our website and practice them before your SSB.
    Psychology Test SSB
  2. Connections: Make sure whatever you write in the test, especially in the story writing, reflect your personality and qualities somehow. Just writing random things about random people is not going to help. The psychologist can get to know your only through what you write hence it’ll help him/her to understand you if you write/reflect your own qualities in the paper.
  3. PIQ: The PIQ form which you fill goes to the psychologist and the Interviewing Officer. You have to fill it with great care. Maintain a good handwriting while filling up the form, and remember all what you wrote. It is highly advisable to practice filling up the PIQ also before the SSB.
  4. Handwriting: Writing neatly is very important. Under stress you are bound to write fast and thus make mistakes, that is the trick. Maintain your peace of mind and try to write as neatly and legibly as possible. This will come only if you practice in advance.
  5. Be positive but don’t deny: Being positive is good and you must give positive responses in these tests. But some people tend to completely deny the situation and the picture and make irrelevant stories or give inappropriate responses. Do not deny the situation, if something is very prominently visible in the picture or mentioned in the story then take that into consideration instead of devising up your own picture/situation.
  6. Self-Description: SD is like a leaked question paper, where you know the questions before the test itself. So write your SD in advance and practice it again and again to write the replica in the exam.

NDA Exclusive: Why NDA is a Golden Opportunity?

NDA Exclusive: Why NDA is a Golden Opportunity?
National Defence Academy, a dream destination for all the aspiring Fauji boys. If you are reading this article then for sure you are either parent/sibling (or related somehow) of a 16-17 year old and want him to join this prestigious institution, or you might be the guy who wants to join NDA. This article deals about why NDA is a golden opportunity for any guy who wants to join the defence forces of India.

As you must know that NDA exam is meant for boys who have passed or are appearing in their 12th exams. So if you look closely to this fact you’ll realize that NDA is the biggest and brightest job opportunity you get after 12th, ever thought that you’ll be placed somewhere after 12th! Certainly not! Let us see why NDA is a golden chance:

  1. Your first chance of placement: Obviously no-one thinks of taking up a job after 12th (unless conditions demand), but if you get through NDA that means you are joining an earn while you learn scheme. You have to barely pay for the course you do in NDA (BA/BSc), plus you have a fixed job after your training. The time you spend in the academy will be the best time of your life, so certainly a fair deal for 4 years of ragda.
  2. Young minds are the freshest: The mind-set of a 16-17 year old is not very kiddish yet not very mature. So it’s very easy for them to portray their real self. Plus they have a fresh mind, something which helps a lot in the psychological tests. People at this age are filled with enthusiasm, positive energy and freshness, so they have a zeal which drives them, a yes-yes for fauj.
    National Defence Academy Pune
  3. The HUGE vacancy: NDA is probably the only exam for defence with such a huge number of vacancies. More vacancy means more chances of getting through the merit.
  4. Low competition level: The boys who come for NDA SSB have not seen much of exposure; this means their minds are still raw. Whereas once you go after college for SSB, you have seen a lot of exposure; the same is true for other people coming for the same thing. So when you go for NDA you have brighter chances of succeeding. Though SSB is not about better among a group, yet having a good group helps.
  5. The ‘they are just kids’ factor: The officials at SSB generally overlook a minor fault you do which they’ll not overlook once you go after college. This is because the officials consider you as kids when you go for NDA, so simple mistakes are overlooked. This helps a lot in psychology and interview. By the way you are not being encouraged to do mistakes!
  6. Better chances of reaching up the ladder: The earlier you join, the better chances you have of being the Chief of Staff or any other high rank for that matter. NDA is the earliest you can join.
  7. More horizons for sports and adventure: If you are very much interested in taking up a sport, then this is a golden opportunity. You can play for the team of services, where the selections are fair. When you join NDA you get the earliest opportunity for this.
  8. The sense of pride: Once you get through the forces, the sense of pride is incomparable. Your personality will be totally changed and the feeling of achieving something at an early age will always remain.

It is a golden opportunity for all the young boys, where you get chance to play, learn and serve your country together. Don’t miss this opportunity, work hard and get prepared to turn into gentlemen.

The Combat Edge-Inside the Indian Army
Indian Army consists of different corps and departments (in civilian language) which combine together to form the efficient and fabulous union we see. There are several back processes running in the successful execution of anything. Army being no different has several small parts which integrate to form the family of Army, each part has the importance of its own and is a non-differentiable part of the family.

Let us have a look inside the Combat Edge of our Army

  1. The Infantry: Infantry is to the army what a heart is to a human body. Without infantry it’s impossible for any Army to function. No matter how much you advance, you’ll still need infantry because ultimately they decide the winner in the battlefield. All the wars that India has fought, the Infantry has played a major role. Right from the chilling cold of Siachen glacier, to the burning summer of Thar Desert and in the impregnable jungles of the northeast, our infantry has proved its mettle. The infantry is divided into regiments based on the region of the solider that constitute the regiment, this being a tradition method that is followed since the British era. The men for the Special Forces are also generally picked up from infantry. The infantry is laced with variety of assault rifles and grenades, with a huge modernization being carried out. Infantry is a complete unit in itself, it can wage a war anytime.
  2. The Gunners: Gunners are the regiment of Artillery. They provide the firepower whenever required. Gunners are dedicated solider and very efficient in their work, this is reflected in their motto SARVATRA, IZZAT – O – IQBAL to provide fire-power for all eventualities, where-ever required, in whichever form required.
    Indian Army All Regiments
  3. Army Aviation: The third dimension in combat was brought into notice in the 20th century, and thus was born Army aviation. Though the youngest corps in the Indian Army, Aviation corps still has got commendable brilliance and efficiency. It has provided an advantage to the strength of the army making it a stronger and more diversified unit. The Aviation corps has received many praises for their work in two major wars and for their selfless services provided during many relief operations in peacetime.
  4. Army Air Defence: Though a growing corps, yet it has proved its importance and brilliance time and again. They leave no stone unturned to monitor rapidly, control and take quick decisions in regard to the supersonic jets flying in the air. They live up to their motto of AKASHE SHATRUN JAHI (Kill the Enemy in the Sky). They provide an edge in the operations, by providing air defence and are the first in last out in the gamut of any operation.
  5. The Corps of Engineers: They are knows as sappers, and are an important part of the Army. The officers in this corps are armed with a degree of engineering. The corps of engineers plays a major role in mobility and counter -mobility and they are efficient and trained for a wide variety of tasks like mine filed lying and clearing, road construction, handling of explosives etc.
  6. The Corps of Signals: They are the constantly on job soldiers. Since their work revolves around providing, deploying and leveraging the strength of communication networks and providing cyber security, both at the times of war and peace. They are the information warriors and work constantly to provide communication between various units through phones, videos etc., they also connect the soldiers of remote locations to their kith and kin.
  7. The Army Medical Corps: Needless to mention anything, they are the soul that keeps the army alive. They are needed everywhere, both at the time of war and at the time of peace. They give selfless service.
  8. The Ordnance Corps: They are known as the Tuskers and are responsible for providing logistic support to the fighting arms. Their major work is inventory management and they ensure the adequate and timely supply of material to the units.
  9. The corps of EME: The corps of Electronic Engineers, popularly called as eagles are responsible for keeping a check on the equipment, their working status, how to get them more efficient etc. They are also responsible for checking the conceivability of any new weapon in the army. The keep in check the preparedness of any operation, to ensure combat effectiveness to win any war.
  10. The Army Dental Corps: Army Dental Corps is a family of dedicated professionals committed to maintaining the dental health of Armed Forces Officers, personnel and their families which in turn contributes to optimum force utilization and enhances operational capability.
  11. Rashtriya Rifles: It is elite forced raised in 1990 to fight insurgency in the country. It is a premier counter insurgency force of India true to its motto of DRIDTA AUR VEERTA which means Determination and Valor.
  12. The Army Service Corps: This is the Corps, which moves and sustains everything that is required for warfare i.e. from a soldier to any kind of equipment, big or small. Moving by vehicles, mules and porters, it ensures flawless logistics support to match up with the operational plans.
  13. Pioneer Corps: The oldest in the service, Pioneer Corps units provide disciplined and well trained manpower, where civilian labor is either not available, or its employment is not desirable for reasons of security. Pioneer units are mostly committed in forward and operational areas. They may also be employed as guards and escorts for headquarters, installations, ammunition trains and convoys.
  14. The Territorial Army: Raised in 1949, Territorial Army is the army of the civilians, who are working in the normal days and are provided with military training every year for a set duration of time to be deployed, if need be, at the times of wars or any other calamity. The concept behind the Territorial Army is based on the fundamental idea that it should exist for war time employment and should be maintainable at the lowest cost during peace time.

Importance of Self –Improvement

1
Importance of Self –Improvement

It is the privilege of a man to achieve greatness. Yet, we find millions upon millions suffering the agonies of failures. In our modern society, for every successful man, we watch hundreds who are disappointed, dejected and broken down. No doubt we often make mistakes, we get demoralized but we forget that there is always room for improvement, isn’t there? And what’s better than improving ourselves?

There is one great and covetable gift which is distinctly ours at all times, and this is our profound capability to discover, develop and usefully deploy this infinitude in us. A life organized for the discovery of the potentialities already within ourselves, and the ordering of our behavior so as to nurture and nourish them, is a life well spent. Herein our success depends upon the amount of transformation we can successfully bring about in our personality and character. The vital question is how much of our existing talents are we capable of exploring, developing and exploiting? The person is successful who makes a practical use of at least one talent that he possesses.

Indian%2BAir%2BForce%2BPics
Incompetency in life generally springs from our false and hasty conclusions that we are weak, insignificant and ineffective. But it’s only you who can earn for yourself joy, peace, gentleness, fearless courage and undaunted daring to face long suffering. There are certainly moments in everybody’s life when circumstances, just for a change, stop smiling and start grinning, but that doesn’t mean we should get frightened by the grinning face of life, instead we should face it and prepare for the next.
Always remember, the more you add to your self-confidence, the more you can bring out the courage in you and discover the efficiency in you!
