SSB Allahabad

Hello friends..this was my first attempt for the ssb..and it was one of the most..adventorus ,memorable ,exciting and romantic trip of my life J. My ssb was on 10th of feb ,:) while coming from pune to Allahabad from pune patna express,I found out that train will drop me at cheoki station instead of Allahabad station bcoz of the excessive rush of people at Allahabad station due to mahakumbh . When I came out of cheoki station , I found out that auto and buses are not permitted to go to Allahabad station bcoz of the same reason of mahakumbh. So I was having 2 options.. 1. Leave the

Olive Squad Coffee Mugs

ssb and come back in the absentee batch 2. Walk a distance of 13 kilometres. Since this was my first ssb,I was very excited and desperate to reach the MCO at Allahabad,so I chose the second option and walked to 13 km with a heavy bagpack on my shoulders and finally reached the MCO at 4 o clock in the morning.

So that’s how my ssb started..

Day 1 : screening day : the army bus dropped us to the ssb centre Allahabad, there we filled the TA
forms, got our chest numbers and went inside vikram batra testing hall for the screening round
initially two intelligence test were there. 50 simple questions and 30 min to solve them in each paper.
I did well in both of them 😀 J .well that was an easy test…after that it was time for PPDT (picture
perception and description test). In this test a hazy picture was shown to us in which a child was
playing a piyano, and we were supposed to write a story on this within 4 and a half minutes. In my
story , I showed a journey of a young boy from leaning to play the piyano to winning the national level
competition “INDIA’S GOT TALENT”.

Then we were divided into group of 15 people in each group and went to the GD room for the group
discussion. Initially each n every person narrated his story one by one. I narrated my story well and
fluently J.since I was the last candidate to narrate in my group,as soon as my narration ended, the
group discussion started . our group discussion was awesome. Even the gto officer and the psychologist
appreciated our group. I can still remember the words of that GTO officer “boys, this is one of the most
sensible and decent group discussion I have ever seen in this GD room.. till date”.

And when the screening result came,we all were got totally amazed, because out of 15 people from our
group 11 people got screened in,including me J . that moment was really amazing.

Then we got our new chest numbers, my new chest number was 11.and then we filled the PIQ forms.

This is how the day 1 ended and we went to 19ssb accommodation.

DAY2: PSYCHOLOGY TEST: the first psychology test was TAT. Well it was too easy, 11 pictures and a blank slide were shown and I was easily able to write the story based on them within the time limit.

Then was the word association test in which I made a mistake…I skipped two words in between because of which the serial numbers of the sentence from no.7 to no. 20 went wrong .when I realized about that, I immediately corrected it,but in the meanwhile ,I skipped 5 more words.but after word number 20..rest of the serial numbers were in correct order as the answer sheet for word no.21 to 40 was starting from a new page..aah ..thank goodnesss. So finally I was able to attempt 50 words out of 60.

Then third was the SITUATION REACTION TEST. In this ,out of 60 I attempted 42.

And after that the last test was self description test which was very easy.

Then the test was over by 4 oclock and we were free and chest number 1to 9 were being called for the
interview, my interview was on next day as I was chest no.11, so me and few more people went to to
OLIVE GREEN cafeteria and had awesome bakarbaaazi among the group along with coffee and chips.

Then we came back to the staying room and I listened to my favourite Enrique songs for few hours and
then went to sleep ,as we had to wake up early tomorrow morning for the GTO task.

DAY3: day 3 started with the GTO tasks..starting with GD ..the group discussion was a bit of a fish
market..but some how I managed to politely put up my points 3-4 times . but then came the group
planning exercise in which I suckeddd because of the person sitting beside me.we were supposed to sit
in proper semi circle, but person sitting beside me pulled his chair a little bit in front of me due to which
I got hinderd from the group and he kept on shouting in the entire group planning exercise . that’s why
each and every time I had to ask him politely to calm down and listen to my views ,and some how I
managed to speak two times in the whole group planning exercise.. 🙁

Then we had the progressive group task, half group tasks in which I gave workable ideas to overcome
the hurdles. Then was the group obstacle race which was a real fun . everyone running along with the
snake and shouting their warcrys, our warcry was “CHAKKKKKKKK DE INDIAAAAAAAAA”and the most amazing thing WAS that my group won that race :).then last was the lecturette in which all u have to do is to speak logical and confidence like an officer. That was all in the name of GTO tasks for that day.

After that chest number 10 and 11 (me)was called for the interview. Every one was nervous regarding
their interview but I was chill and cool because I already knew that he is gonna focus on my acadamics
and family back ground, as I belong from the army back ground and my academic marks are totally
average. I am persuing mechanical engineering from ARMY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PUNE and my aggregate till 6th semester is 56.93 and I had 1 backlog.

I was going to be interviewed by the president of 19 ssb board. Finally my turn came, and when I enterd
the room, all I did there was that I spoke the truth nourished with confidence….thats ittttt…and my guess was absolutely correct, my entire interview revolved around my weakness, failures, academics and family back ground and some technical questions which I answered him very easily. And in the end my personal interview went awesome. So I was really happy after my interview was over, and this happiness got multiplied by 100 when I came to know that my hot favorite actress deepika’s movie RACE 2 was being shown in the vikram batra testing hall. Though the movie was yukkkk.. but I loved the presence and appearance of deepika in the movie .

DAY 4: day 4 started with the individual obstacles . I did all the obstacles and also repeated the
commando walk. So over all I did 11 obstacles .that was amazingggg.

After that was the command task, 4 times I was called as a subordinate by my group mates .and when
my turn came, initially I was doing good, but then the GTO officers started making the situations tougher and tougher for me and in the end he scolded me “u don’t have the ability to complete the task in the given time limit…u should know how to give commands to your subordinates to make the work fast and effective.” Then the thought came in my mind “ gaya beta tu to….ab to tu kaise bhi recommend nhi ho rha.”

Then was the final group task which was just a formality and was over within 10 minutes.

So in this way our entire ssb test was over and we were eagerly waiting for the result after the
conference in tomorrow morning.

Day 5 : conference day : when I went inside the room , I saw all the officers sitting in proper uniform and the president who interviewed me was sitting in the middle. He asked me abt my stay, how well did I performed in all three tests i.e psychology, PI and GTO. ,where do I rank my self in my group, and then he asked me wether I faced any kind of difficulty in any test. Then I told him about the problem which I faced in word association test. So he putted 10 words in front of me and asked me to make sentences on them. I easily made the sentences .and then he asked “any suggestions you would like to give??”, I said “no sirrr” then he said thank you and I left the room.

After 15 minutes , the psychologist came out and announced the result. The moment he said chest no.
11, I was like “ohhhhh yeahhhhh…I made itttttttttt”. And friends if u notice the date on which I got
recommended…

it was 14th feb..that is THE VALENTINE DAY ..waaavvvvvviiiiiiiiiiiiiii….

🙂 🙂 so I would like to dedicate my recommendation for the army to my “sweetheart cutie pie …my first crush..mera sab kuchh” as a valentine gift!!!! PS : anything for herrrrr!!!!..recommendation to bahot chhoti cheez hai…!!!!!  Well friends..in the end I would like to say..if u are going for ssb..go prepared.and face the interview and tasks with confidence… just like an officer… 🙂
