This article will take many of the veterans of SSB, down the memory lane and to those who are yet to experience this golden moment; it will provide an account of what they will be going to experience. So as we know SSB is the biggest hurdle you have to cross in order to become an officer in the forces. Or it would be more appropriate to say that if you want to become an officer you have to clear SSB. It is said to be the trickiest and most difficult interview in the world to crack, simply because it monitors your personality and your suitability from every aspect. In the end whether you get recommended or not, you always have something to gain. I can very confidently say that the five days at SSB teach you a lot more about life, than any school/college can in an year’s time. SSB is not just an interview to crack in order to get a job, it is much more than that. It is a well proven fact that everything teaches you something beneficial. SSB is no different.

From the moment you receive the call letter, a lot of things change. Since your dream is to clear the SSB and become an officer, so you never want to leave any stone unturned in order to reach your goal. So as soon as you receive the call letter you start collecting information about the SSB. What all is done there, how you can succeed etc. Thus begins the change. Since you collect information about SSB, you learn a lot of things. You learn to develop your personality overall, to do things which you might have never done before. Right from the physical fitness regime you start, to the regular newspaper reading habit, from the oratory skills to the quest to know yourself more, every aspect helps you to develop your personality better.

Why SSB Is A Lifetime Experience

Once you are done with your preparation and go for the SSB, you meet a lot of new people. People from across the country, different regions, and different cultures, all united under the similar dream of achieving the uniform. Once you meet new people you again get a lot of things to learn from them. Then the stay at SSB, everything in discipline. You get a chance to see the life of Fauj from the closest view (for the civilian aspirants). The tasks you perform there teach you teamwork. Every exercise conducted helps you to get to know yourself more.
Everything in SSB helps you to know more about yourself, know your strengths, your weaknesses, how to overcome and enhance them. The friends you make are priceless, since you spend every single moment with them, without any phone, without any other distraction. You learn a lot about yourself, about the world, about people. And in the end if you get recommended it is like cherry on the cake. All you need to do is give your best and put in all the efforts to perform well. Definitely SSB will be few of the golden days of your life. A must have experience which you’ll always cherish!
