As the nation celebrates Independence Day 2025, a day of pride, unity, and remembrance of the sacrifices made for India’s freedom, the Indian Army continues its tradition of honouring its soldiers with Honorary Commissions. These awards—Honorary Captain, Honorary Lieutenant, Honorary Subedar Major, Honorary Subedar, and Honorary Naib Subedar—recognise exceptional service, dedication, and loyalty to the force and the nation.
The Honorary Commission is not merely a ceremonial title; it is a testament to a soldier’s distinguished service, leadership, and devotion to duty. These ranks bridge the gap between exemplary field performance and formal recognition, reflecting the deep respect and admiration the country holds for its soldiers.
