  1. BORDER: This one is a personal favourite, Don’t call yourself a defense aspirant if you haven’t seen this gem of a movie. Directed by J.P Dutta, starred by Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Suneil Shetty the movie is based on 1971 Indo Pak War, Battle of Longewala. With exquisite direction, immaculate action, enthralling background score and individual brilliance of the actors this movie has won many hearts around the country. Don’t miss Sunny Deol’s dialogues otherwise you will regret it for life.

  2. LAGAAN: It was a very big risk when Aamir Khan turned producer for this movie but, as it happened this movie became India’s official entry for Oscars in that year. It is just a treat to the eyes when we Indians take on the Firangis in a match of Cricket which will determine the fate of the whole territory. Brusque portrayal of the Lead role by Aamir Khan, brisk direction by Ashutosh Gowariker makes you glued to the movie. With a scintillating background score and an intriguing story line, this movie is bound to make you appreciate the fact that you are an Indian.
  3. THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH: The story of a young man hailing from Punjab who made it a point that every bit of his flesh belonged to his motherland. Not everyone had the gumption to proffer his life for the nation at the age of 23. People don’t regard Bhagat Singh as the most Influential freedom fighter for no reason. Another spectacle directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and aptly played by Ajay Devgn, this classic makes your blood simmer. It is a must watch for every young Indian who thinks that doing something for the country is a waste of time.
  4. RANG DE BASANTI: Another gem from the perfectionist Aamir Khan, this movie is a youth centric captivating story of a group of friends who catch the bull by its thorn. Directed by Rakesh Mehra, this movie just pumps your blood to do something for the nation. With bewitching music and pleasing screenplay this beauty of a movie will never make you feel bored. A must watch for all youth.
  5. KRANTI: Released in 1981 and directed by Manoj Kumar, this movie has stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Manoj Kumar and Shahi Kapoor in the lead. This movie will take you through the hardships faced by the Indians during the British Rule and how the Indians resisted them with grit and determination. This is a must watch for those who want to witness individual acting brilliance along with a robust story line.
  6. CHAK DE INDIA: How can one miss this splendor of a movie. With Shah Rukh Khan in the Lead playing the character of the coach of the Indian women’s hockey team you know that you have a winner in store. This movie will take you through the journey of a team from shambles to victory. A must watch for those who need a dose of motivation immediately.
  7. MARY KOM: Please don’t do the mistake of ignoring this Priyanka Chopra starrer as just another sport’s star biopic. This film will take you through an exhilarating journey of how the mother of two fights the world and emerges as the most celebrated women’s boxer in the country. Really a good watch for all the lady aspirants.
  8. SWADES: Another Shah Rukh Khan starrer directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. It is quite fascinating to see how subtly the whole crew has filmed this movie. Soothing music of this movie will take you to another world. It revolves around an Indian Astronaut (Shah Rukh Khan) who visits his village home for a mini vacation but finds himself allured into the local matters of the village. An eye opener for those nurturing the dream of leaving the country for a few Dollars.

LAKSHYA: With a compelling title song, this piece of brilliance directed by Farhan Akhtar is a heart wrenching saga of a spoilt rudderless brat (Hrithik Roshan) who fortuitously joins the Indian Army. This movie will show how the Indian Army makes Men from the boys. You should have a very strong excuse for not watching this one.
  10. HOLIDAY: This movie lives up to its tagline that “, A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. It is the story of an Army Officer (Akshay Kumar) who goes on leave to be with his family but doesn’t shy away from his obligations in demanding situations. This movie will make you realize the core values out of which the Officer in the Indian Army is made of. Don’t miss this one because you cannot afford to.
