For every little boy, his father is a great hero and for every father, his son is his hope for all the things he couldn’t achieve. As a teenager, we feel confident that one day we will achieve our dreams but then as we grow, we realize that life is sometimes tough and hard. Things worsen when we think it can’t get worse and we see people not as easy with us as we had imagined. And because of these, sometimes we get broken, shattered or low.
As an army Sepoy, a father wanted his son to be an army officer one day. As a son, he too dreamed the same, to be an army officer. But then he had his first surgery done at the age of 11, then another at 13 and 14. He failed in maths in class 10 and so couldn’t sit for NDA. He prepared for CDS, and cleared the exam but failed at interview, twice.
When in the third attempt he passed both the exam and the interview, at the medical he was declared medically not fully fit. He gave his medical again, and again was declared as not fully fit. He used his final option of making last appeal and made an appeal for the medical to be done one more time. This time he was declared medically fit and joined the armed forces, fulfilling his and his father’s dream. The medicals were done at Allahabad, Delhi and Chandigarh. During all these exams, interviews and medicals, he traveled a total of more than 20,000 Km’s.
In the academy, he grew to be a sword bearer at the final passing out.
Today he is Lieutenant Aneesh Kumar.
