In a significant development for the Indian Air Force (IAF), CAS Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari inaugurated the IAF Emergency Medical Response System (EMRS) facility at the Command Hospital in Bengaluru. This advanced facility is set to enhance the IAF’s ability to provide immediate and effective medical assistance to its personnel and their families.
The newly established EMRS features a single pan-IAF Helpline, operational 24×7, dedicated to serving IAF personnel and their dependents. Through this helpline, individuals can access expert medical guidance, rapid evacuation, and definitive care in the event of medical emergencies.
A trained medical team will ensure the quickest possible response from the nearest medical establishment, based on the nature and severity of the emergency.
This milestone follows a major step forward on 2 May 2024, when Air Marshal Rajesh Vaidya, Director General Medical Services (Air), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Krishnam Raju, Director of EMRI at GVK EMRI Online. The MoU facilitates the training of IAF medical practitioners in emergency preparedness and response at EMRI, Hyderabad. This training is expected to significantly bolster the IAF’s capabilities in providing prompt and effective medical assistance during crises.
The inauguration of the EMRS marks a crucial advancement in the IAF’s commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of its personnel, demonstrating its readiness to respond to medical emergencies with speed and efficiency.
