Kangana Ranaut Slapped by CISF Constable at Chandigarh Airport

CISF has suspended the woman constable and given a complaint against her at the local police station for FIR, in connection with slapping BJP leader and actor Kangana Ranaut at Chandigarh airport.

In a shocking incident at Chandigarh Airport on Thursday, BJP leader and actor Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable. The altercation occurred around 3:30 PM as Ranaut was preparing to board a flight to Delhi.

Ranaut, who is also the newly elected Member of Parliament from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, released a video statement hours after the incident. In the video, she claimed the constable struck her in the face and used abusive language. The confrontation, according to Ranaut, stemmed from the constable’s support for the ongoing farmers’ protests.

“A CISF personnel hit me on my face and hurled abuses. When I asked why she did that, she said she supported the farmers’ protests. I am safe. But I am concerned about the rising extremism and terrorism in Punjab,” Ranaut said in her video statement.

The incident has prompted the CISF to establish an inquiry committee, comprising senior officers, to investigate the matter further. The committee will examine the circumstances leading to the altercation and determine the appropriate actions.

Earlier in the day, Ranaut had shared an Instagram story showing her en route to Delhi, captioning the post with, “On my way to the Parliament. Mandi ki sansad (MP from Mandi).” She recently secured a significant electoral victory, defeating Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh by a margin of 74,755 votes, garnering a total of 537,022 votes in the election.

In the broader political landscape, the BJP has solidified its position as the dominant party, winning 240 seats. With the backing of N. Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), the BJP is set to form the government at the Centre. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to take the oath for his third consecutive term on June 9.

This incident has stirred significant public and media attention, drawing focus on the interplay of political tensions and security protocols at critical public junctures.
