Headquarters Western Naval Command (HQWNC) conducted a significant training capsule on ‘Stress Management & Prevention of Suicides’ on July 11, 2024, specifically designed for defense civilians. The session, led by Surg Cdr Priyadarshi Patra, a classified specialist and professor of psychiatry at INS Angre, focused on promoting mental health and resilience among participants.
Rear Admiral Sundeep K Verma, Chief Staff Officer (Personnel & Administration) at HQWNC, opened the session by emphasizing the critical importance of mental health, particularly in high-stress environments. The training was attended by over 150 civilian personnel, highlighting the command’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its workforce.
The capsule covered various aspects of stress management and provided practical strategies to help individuals recognize early signs of distress and prevent suicides. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Navy to foster a supportive work environment and address mental health challenges proactively.
