An Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent, including Su-30MKI fighter jets, C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft, and IL-78 air-to-air refuelers, has made a significant transit halt in Indonesia on its way to participate in Exercise Pitch Black in Australia.
The contingent was warmly received by Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty, Indian Ambassador to Indonesia, and Marsda Benny, Assistant to the Chief of Air Force for Intelligence.
Landing at Halim, the Su-30MKI fighters and their accompanying aircraft mark a pivotal moment in the strengthening ties between India and Indonesia.
This stopover follows the recently concluded Air Staff Talks in New Delhi, which highlighted the growing cooperation between the two nations’ air forces.
During their stay, the IAF contingent is set to engage in professional interactions with the Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI AU) team.
These interactions will include exchanges between fighter pilots and technical crews, fostering mutual understanding and enhancing operational capabilities through shared experiences.
The deployment of the IAF contingent to Exercise Pitch Black, supported by long-range missions involving IL-78 inflight refuelers, underscores the strategic reach and capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
