Surgeon Vice Admiral Anupam Kapur has officially assumed the role of Director General Hospital Services (Armed Forces) at the office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services. His commission into the Indian Navy dates back to June 27, 1987, marking a long and distinguished career.
Before his current appointment, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kapur served as the Command Medical Officer of the Western Naval Command. He has also held commanding roles at two of the Indian Navy’s premier hospitals, INHS Asvini in Mumbai and INHS Sanjivani in Kochi.
An esteemed alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kapur specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology and further super-specialized in Gynecological Endoscopy, adding a high level of expertise to his professional portfolio.
His contributions to the Indian Navy and the Armed Forces Medical Services have been recognized multiple times throughout his career. Surgeon Vice Admiral Kapur has been awarded the Nao Sena Medal for his distinguished service and has received commendations twice from the Chief of the Naval Staff and once from the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (West).
With this new leadership role, Surgeon Vice Admiral Kapur is expected to bring his extensive medical and administrative expertise to enhance the healthcare services provided to the Armed Forces, ensuring the continued health and readiness of India’s military personnel.
