Meanwhile, another encounter is underway in the Chak Tapper area of Baramulla district, where 2–3 militants have been trapped in a building. The situation remains tense as Jammu and Kashmir has seen sporadic incidents of violence ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, which are the first in the region in a decade.

Earlier this week, two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Basantgarh, near the Kathua-Udhampur border, highlighting the growing security challenges in the Union Territory.
