In a significant security operation, three terrorists were killed after they opened fire on an Army vehicle in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmirโ€™s Jammu district on Monday. The incident took place around 7 am in the Batal area, where suspected terrorists fired multiple rounds at the vehicle. Security forces quickly responded, cordoning off the area and launching a search operation.

The attack in Akhnoor comes amid heightened security across Jammu and Kashmir during the Diwali festival season. Over the past week, the region has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks, raising concerns about the security situation. A total of 12 people, including two soldiers, have been killed in multiple gunfights across the region, particularly in the Kashmir valley.

On October 24, terrorists ambushed an Army vehicle near Gulmarg in Baramulla, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and two porters. Earlier that same day, a teenager from Uttar Pradesh was injured in a separate attack in Tral, marking the third assault on migrant workers in the region within a week.

Concerns Over Security and Intelligence Gaps

The recent surge in terrorist activities has prompted a high-level meeting at the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governorโ€™s house on October 24. An investigation into the October 20 attack in Ganderbal district, where seven people, including a doctor and six migrant workers, were killed, has highlighted gaps in intelligence and undetected infiltration along the Line of Control (LoC) over the past year.

As security operations continue in Akhnoor, authorities remain vigilant in addressing the ongoing threat posed by terrorist elements in the region. The incident underscores the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir amid a series of coordinated attacks.
