On January 6, 2025, Air Commodore Debakinandan Sahu took over as the Commanding Officer of the Base Repair Depot (BRD), Tughlakabad, succeeding Air Commodore Rishi Seth. The change of command was marked by an impressive ceremonial parade conducted by the depot personnel, reflecting the traditions and discipline of the Indian Air Force.
Commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering stream of the IAF on May 30, 1994, Air Commodore Sahu brings extensive experience and technical expertise to his new role. An alumnus of the Air Force Technical College (AFTC), Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), and the College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad, he has a distinguished background in aviation and Guided Weapon Missile systems.
Throughout his illustrious career, Air Commodore Sahu has held several key appointments, including:
- Chief Engineering Officer at a premier Air Force Base
- Staff appointments at Operational Command Headquarters
- Staff role at Air Headquarters
In recognition of his exemplary service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India on January 26, 2023, underscoring his dedication and contributions to the Indian Air Force.
As he takes charge of BRD Tughlakabad, Air Commodore Sahu is poised to lead the depot in its critical role of maintaining and supporting the IAF’s operational readiness. His vast technical expertise and leadership will further enhance the depot’s capabilities in ensuring mission success for the Indian Air Force.
