Captain Dimple Singh Bhati etched her name in history as the first woman Army officer to salute the President of India during the Republic Day parade. This milestone occurred at the 76th Republic Day celebrations held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.
On this momentous day, Captain Bhati, mounted on a 12-foot ladder atop a moving motorcycle, saluted President Droupadi Murmu, showcasing the precision and spirit of the Indian Army’s Corps of Signals.
Her remarkable achievement not only highlights her personal dedication and excellence but also symbolizes the significant strides towards gender inclusivity within the Indian armed forces.
Captain Bhati, who previously earned a Silver Medal at her training from the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, comes from a family with military ties—her sister, Captain Divya Singh Bhati, also serves in the Indian Army, and their father is a retired banker.
The family is next generation relative of 1962 War Hero, Maj Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC.
