Maruti Jimny ITBP scaled

In a significant development for India’s border security forces, 60 units of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny have been officially handed over to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). These robust off-road vehicles will be deployed along the challenging terrains of Leh-Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, replacing the legendary Maruti Gypsy, which has served the Indian Armed Forces for decades.

The Jimny, with its tagline ‘Never Turn Back,’ resonates with the determination and valour of our brave soldiers in uniform.”

He further added:

“Maruti Suzuki has a long-standing association with the Armed Forces, providing them with vehicles they can trust. The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy has been a trusted companion for the Armed Forces for decades, and now with the Jimny, we carry forward this legacy to support our soldiers at the frontiers.”

A Legacy Continued: From Gypsy to Jimny

The Maruti Gypsy, an iconic off-roader, was the backbone of military operations for decades. Its reliability, ruggedness, and adaptability made it a favorite among security forces. With the Jimny’s introduction:

  • The legacy of dependable off-road performance continues.
  • The vehicle is tailored for modern tactical requirements, offering better safety features, enhanced technology, and superior driving dynamics.

Supporting India’s Frontline Defenders

This move aligns with the government’s focus on equipping security forces with modern, reliable, and indigenous solutions.
