Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia, AVSM, VSM, today assumed the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance at the Indian Air Force Headquarters. Following the assumption of office, he paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
Commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering branch of the IAF in September 1988, Air Marshal Ghuratia is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the Air Force Test Pilot School, Bengaluru, and the Air Force Technical College, Bengaluru. An accomplished electrical engineer, he holds degrees from GEC Jabalpur, BITS Pilani, and Madras University, and earned his doctorate from Bhopal University.
A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, London, and several other professional bodies, he has also served as Lead Auditor of ISO 45000 (OH & SMS) and is an Associate Member of the Society of Flight Test Engineers, USA.
In his distinguished 37-year career, Air Marshal Ghuratia has held several key command and staff appointments in the IAF and on a UN Mission in Congo, where he was commended by the Force Commander. Prior to his present posting, he was the Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command.
For his exemplary service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (2016) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2025) by the President of India.
Air Marshal Ghuratia is married to Mrs. Archana, and the couple is blessed with two daughters.
