In a significant step towards technological self-reliance, the Indian Army has been successfully granted a patent for its in-house innovation, the “Automatic Target Classifying System based on Artificial Intelligence.”
The system, developed by Colonel Kuldeep Yadav, is designed to autonomously identify and classify targets on radar without requiring human intervention. By integrating AI into radar operations, the innovation promises to dramatically enhance the Army’s operational efficiency and reduce response times in dynamic combat situations.
Army officials described the development as a testament to the organisation’s growing emphasis on indigenous innovation under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. “This achievement reflects our commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening technological self-reliance, and promoting #Atmanirbharta in the defence sector,” the Army said in a statement.
The new AI-powered system is expected to be a force multiplier in modern warfare, where real-time detection and rapid decision-making are critical to mission success.
