Major General Atul Seth, VSM, today assumed charge as the Dean and Deputy Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune.
An alumnus of AFMC, Major General Seth was commissioned into the Armed Forces in 1992 and has served with distinction for over three decades. A specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology with expertise in minimal access surgery and urogynaecology, he has also earned an MD from AFMC and an M.Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence College, New Delhi.
For his exemplary service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2022. His career spans clinical practice, research, and healthcare administration, making him well-suited to lead AFMCโs next phase of growth in advanced training and medical innovation.
AFMC, founded in 1948 and affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, has produced over 6,000 doctors and continues to play a pivotal role in military medical education. The institution has recently expanded its graduate wing and strengthened infrastructure, including WiFi-enabled hostels.
Major General Sethโs leadership comes at a time when AFMC is witnessing a growing demand for specialized training. His tenure is expected to further bolster AFMCโs academic and clinical excellence on the global stage.
