Director General, Border Security Force (BSF), Shri Daljit Singh Chawdhary, along with senior BSF officers, held an insightful and interactive session with visiting IPS officers of the 74 & 77 RR Batch at the BSF facility in Nizamuddin, New Delhi.
Orientation on BSF’s Legacy and Mandate
During the interaction, the IPS officers were briefed on:
- The history and evolution of the Border Security Force,
- BSF’s pivotal role as India’s first line of defence,
- Its multi-dimensional operational responsibilities across international borders.
The session provided the officers with a deeper understanding of BSF’s ethos, culture, and its critical contributions to national security.

Understanding Operational Challenges
Senior BSF officers explained the diverse operational challenges faced by the force, including:
- Guarding difficult terrains and high-threat zones,
- Countering cross-border infiltration, smuggling, and emerging hybrid threats,
- Managing dynamic situations across the India–Pakistan and India–Bangladesh borders.

Harnessing Technology for Future Border Management
The DG BSF highlighted the organisation’s forward-looking approach, focusing on:
- Modern surveillance systems,
- AI-enabled monitoring,
- Smart fencing projects,
- High-tech communication networks, and
- Integrated command and control systems.
These advances reflect BSF’s commitment to enhancing border security, response capability, and operational efficiency in an evolving threat landscape.

Strengthening Police–Paramilitary Synergy
The visit strengthened the professional bond between the Indian Police Service and BSF, fostering a deeper appreciation of joint cooperation and interoperability in national security and law enforcement.
