Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Institute of Military Law (IML) on 10 November 2025. The visit aimed to assess the ongoing training, infrastructure development, and academic initiatives undertaken by the institute to meet the evolving legal and operational needs of the Indian Army.
During the visit, the Army Commander was given a comprehensive briefing on the training curriculum, pedagogy, and new adaptations introduced to prepare legal officers for future challenges in military justice and administrative law. He was apprised of the integration of technology-enabled learning modules and the steps being taken to align training content with the demands of modern warfare and joint-service operations.

Lt Gen Sharma also reviewed the ongoing infrastructure development projects within the campus, designed to enhance the overall learning environment and ensure state-of-the-art facilities for officers under training.

The Army Commander interacted with student officers undergoing the Judge Advocate Basic Course (JAC-35) and appreciated their commitment to upholding the highest standards of military ethics and justice. He commended the efforts of the faculty and staff for their professionalism and dedication in shaping competent Judge Advocate officers for the Indian Armed Forces.

Emphasising the critical role of legal officers in maintaining discipline, fairness, and procedural integrity within the military structure, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma urged the institute to continue innovating and aligning its training modules with the broader objectives of the Army Training Command. He highlighted that a robust legal framework and well-trained Judge Advocate officers form a vital pillar of an agile, adaptive, and future-ready force.
