Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, along with Shri Subhankar Sen, Director (Marketing), BPCL, dedicated a newly constructed underground fuel storage facility under Project Sena Sarthi, a joint initiative of the Indian Army and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) aimed at strengthening operational logistics for troops deployed in forward and high-altitude areas.
The state-of-the-art fuel installation represents a significant advancement in strategic logistics, enhancing fuel holding capacity and ensuring a secure, seamless and resilient supply chain in some of the most challenging and remote terrains along the Northern borders. Designed to withstand harsh climatic conditions and security threats, the facility will substantially augment sustained operational mobility and mission readiness.
Project Sena Sarthi stands as a model of Military–Civil Fusion, combining the Indian Army’s operational requirements with BPCL’s technical expertise in fuel management and infrastructure development. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to self-reliance, unity and national resilience, with the Indian Army safeguarding the nation’s frontiers and BPCL energising its lifelines.
The event was also attended by Lt Gen Mukesh Chadha, Senior Colonel Commandant of the Army Service Corps, who lauded the collaboration and highlighted the critical importance of robust logistics infrastructure in modern military operations.
The dedication of this facility marks a major step toward reinforcing the Northern Command’s logistics backbone, enabling uninterrupted fuel support to frontline troops and setting a benchmark for future military–civil collaborative initiatives.
