In a proactive step towards fostering inter-agency cooperation and cyber awareness among future military leaders, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajai Singh, interacted with cadets of the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Monday, sharing valuable insights on cyber safety, internal security, and police–army coordination.
Bridging Forces for National Security
During the interactive session, 205 IMA cadets undergoing training visited the Dehradun Police Office to gain first-hand understanding of the functioning of the Police Control Room (PCR) and the operational synergy between the Army and Police during joint operations.
SSP Ajai Singh highlighted the shared responsibility of the Army and Police in maintaining internal security and public order, stressing that effective collaboration between the two is essential in dealing with modern threats, including terrorism, misinformation, and cybercrime.
Raising Awareness on Cyber Threats
The SSP also sensitised cadets about the emerging challenges in the digital domain, including cyber scams targeting defence personnel, identity theft, and social engineering tactics used by cybercriminals.
He briefed the cadets on preventive measures to safeguard personal and official data, emphasising the importance of digital discipline and vigilance in online interactions.
Understanding Police Operations
The visiting cadets were also given a detailed overview of the functioning of the Police Control Room, including how emergency responses are coordinated through the 112 helpline system.
SSP Singh explained how the control room serves as the nerve centre for rapid response and crisis management, ensuring timely assistance to citizens during emergencies.
Strengthening Inter-Agency Coordination
The session offered an enriching learning experience for the cadets, helping them understand how the Army and Police complement each other’s efforts in safeguarding national security and maintaining law and order.
The interaction concluded with SSP Ajai Singh urging the cadets to stay technologically aware and to uphold a sense of duty, discipline, and coordination as they prepare to join the Indian Army as commissioned officers.
The initiative underscored the importance of continuous engagement between the armed forces and civil police, aimed at building a cohesive security ecosystem for the nation.
