Commodore Subhal Nathan, NM, assumed command of INS Zamorin, the Base Depot Ship for the Indian Naval Academy (INA), at Ezhimala, Kerala, on December 29.
A Gunnery specialist and a Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) awardee, Commodore Nathan brings with him extensive operational and staff experience. He has previously commanded frontline naval units INS Kalpeni and INS Deepak, demonstrating strong leadership across diverse maritime roles.
In his distinguished career, Commodore Nathan has also held key staff appointments at Naval Headquarters, Headquarters Western Naval Command, and the Maritime Domain Awareness Centre, contributing to operational planning, maritime security, and domain awareness initiatives.
As Commanding Officer of INS Zamorin, Commodore Nathan will play a pivotal role in providing administrative, logistical, and training support to officer cadets at the Indian Naval Academy, reinforcing the Navy’s commitment to excellence in training and leadership development.
