Southern Command conducted a high-intensity Military–Civil Fusion (MCF) exercise at the Military–Civil Fusion Training Node in Pune, aimed at rehearsing and validating inter-agency Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) under a simulated multi-threat security environment.
The exercise saw seamless integration of Southern Command troops with Maharashtra Police’s Force One, the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), police units, Fire Services, Bomb Disposal Units, Disaster Management Authority, Health and Forensic departments, and the Army Dog Unit. The focus remained on enhancing interoperability, rapid decision-making and coordinated responses across the full spectrum of internal security challenges.
Realistic crisis scenarios were simulated to rigorously test command and control mechanisms, communication architecture and coordination at multiple levels. The drill enabled participating agencies to refine standard operating procedures, identify operational synergies and strengthen institutional linkages to ensure swift and effective responses during emergencies.
Military–Civil Fusion exercises form a critical pillar of the whole-of-government approach to national security. By bringing together multiple stakeholders on a common operational platform, the exercise reinforced collective resilience, improved preparedness against complex contingencies and reaffirmed the shared commitment of all agencies towards public safety and integrated national response capabilities.
