The 43rd Senior National Rowing Championship–2026 concluded on a high note at the Army Rowing Node (ARN) under the Mission Olympics Wing of the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune, marking another significant milestone in India’s rowing journey and the broader national sports ecosystem.
The Closing Ceremony was graced by Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by senior Indian Army officials and eminent civil dignitaries, including the President of the Rowing Federation of India, underscoring the championship’s national importance.
The championship witnessed wide participation from State and Services teams, reflecting the growing depth, competitiveness, and professionalism of Indian rowing. One of the standout highlights of the event was the Para Single Scull competition, which powerfully showcased resilience, inclusivity, and the indomitable spirit of athletes competing at the highest level despite physical challenges.
In the overall standings, the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) clinched first position, while the Army Sports Control Board (ASCB) secured second position, reaffirming the continued dominance of the Services in competitive rowing.
Addressing the gathering, the Army Commander commended ARN and CME for the exemplary planning and flawless conduct of the championship. He also reaffirmed the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to nurturing world-class sportsmen and women, creating an enabling environment for excellence at both national and international arenas.
The successful conclusion of the championship once again highlighted the Indian Army’s pivotal role in strengthening India’s sporting culture and advancing Olympic aspirations through sustained investment in infrastructure, training, and talent development.
