From Counter-Terror Battle in Rajouri to National Recognition

In September 2023, during a fierce counter-terrorism operation in Rajouri, LN Rajesh Kumar fought terrorists at close quarters alongside his canine partner, K9 Kent. Despite being hit by two to three bullets, he continued the operation with exceptional bravery, ensuring the mission’s success.

For his conspicuous gallantry and indomitable spirit under fire, LN Rajesh Kumar was awarded the Sena Medal.

K9 Kent: A Soldier Who Never Came Back

His canine partner K9 Kent displayed extraordinary courage during the operation and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. In recognition of this selfless act, K9 Kent was posthumously honoured with a Mention-in-Despatches, reaffirming the Indian Army’s tradition of honouring bravery—regardless of form.

From Bullets to Drones: A New Battlefield Role

Today, LN Rajesh Kumar continues to serve at the cutting edge of modern warfare. He is now deployed with a trained raptor named “Arjun”, part of the Indian Army’s anti-drone capability, where birds of prey are used to neutralise hostile drones across sensitive locations.

This role highlights the Army’s innovative approach to counter emerging aerial threats—combining traditional skill, biological assets, and modern tactical needs.

Marching on Kartavya Path: A Living Symbol of Valour

As LN Rajesh Kumar prepares to march on Kartavya Path, his journey reflects the essence of the Indian Army:

  • Courage under fire
  • Loyalty to comrades—human and canine
  • Adaptability to future battlefields

From the forests of Rajouri to the ceremonial avenue of the nation, his story is one of resilience, honour, and service beyond self.

Why His Story Matters

LN Rajesh Kumar’s journey is not just a tale of bravery—it is a reminder that the Indian Army’s strength lies in:

  • Soldiers who fight on despite wounds
  • Bonds between handlers and their K9 partners
  • Continuous evolution to counter new-age threats

As India watches its warriors march past on Kartavya Path, LN Rajesh Kumar stands tall—a true embodiment of Indian Army valour, sacrifice, and readiness for the wars of today and tomorrow.
