Deputy Inspector General of Police, Munger Range, Rakesh Kumar, confirmed that no armed Naxalite squad is currently active in any of the 23 districts that were once affected by insurgency. The announcement signals the culmination of sustained counter-insurgency operations and coordinated efforts by security forces over the years.

District Magistrate of Munger, Nikhil Dhanraj Nippanikar, stated that under the Central Government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, Suresh Koda will be provided with the prescribed benefits aimed at reintegration into mainstream society. His wife, Pramila Devi, expressed relief and happiness over his decision, saying the family now feels a renewed sense of peace and hope.

At its peak, particularly during the 1970s and later in 2012, as many as 23 districts in Bihar were impacted by Naxalite influence, especially in central Bihar. However, intensified security operations, development initiatives and rehabilitation policies have significantly reduced insurgent activity. Notably, no Naxalite incident was reported in 2025, and 220 Naxalites were arrested during the year, reflecting the state’s progress toward stability, peace and development.
