Captain Atla Mohan took over as the Naval Officer-in-Charge (NOIC), Karnataka on 17 February 2026, marking a new chapter in his distinguished naval career.
An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy and a Communication specialist by training, Captain Mohan brings with him extensive operational, command and staff experience. Over the years, he has held several key appointments across the Indian Navy.

His notable assignments include Commanding Officer of INS Tabar and INS Khukri, where he led frontline warships in diverse operational roles. He has also served as Defence Attaché at the Embassy of India in Doha, strengthening defence diplomacy and bilateral engagement. Additionally, he held the appointment of Command Administrative & Personnel Officer at Headquarters Western Naval Command.
As NOIC Karnataka, Captain Mohan will be responsible for overseeing naval activities, coastal security coordination and maritime interests in the state, reinforcing the Indian Navy’s commitment to safeguarding India’s western seaboard.
