The young officer was on her way to join her next posting at INS Valsura after completing her training in Pune when her car collided with another vehicle. The impact of the crash was severe, and she succumbed to her injuries on the spot. Two other officers traveling with her were reported safe.

Her final rites were performed by her younger brother, Bhupesh Singh, in an emotional ceremony attended by naval officials, who presented the national flag to her father, Kishan Singh, in recognition of her service to the nation.

In a powerful tribute, a 14-kilometre-long Tiranga Yatra was carried out from Didwana to Bithura. As her mortal remains reached the village, chants of “Anshu Rathore Amar Rahe” filled the air. Villagers turned out in large numbers, showering flowers and paying homage during the final procession.

Lieutenant Rathore belonged to a family with a proud legacy of serving the armed forces for five generations. She was the first woman in her family to become a commissioned officer in the Indian Navy, achieving this milestone in her very first attempt in 2024 as a Sub Lieutenant.

Her untimely demise is a profound loss to the nation. Lieutenant Anshu Rathore’s courage, dedication, and legacy of service will continue to inspire generations to come.
