The Indian Army has released the Territorial Army Officer Notification 2026, inviting applications from gainfully employed Indian citizens who wish to serve the nation in uniform while continuing their civilian careers. This is a prestigious opportunity to don the olive green uniform as a part-time soldier and contribute to national defence without leaving one’s primary profession.
The Territorial Army (TA) operates on the concept of enabling motivated young citizens to serve in a military environment on a part-time basis. Officers of the Territorial Army are embodied for training periods and can be called for active military service depending upon operational requirements. As the notification states, you can serve the nation in two capacities — as a civilian and as a soldier.
The Territorial Army Commission 2026 exam is scheduled for 12 July 2026, and applications will be accepted online from 20 April 2026 to 19 May 2026. This article provides a comprehensive breakdown of everything you need to know — from eligibility and vacancies to exam pattern, pay scale, and selection procedure.
