The Assam Rifles paid a solemn farewell to Havildar John Famhoite of the 17 Assam Regiment, who was laid to rest with full military honours at Rengkai in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
The last rites were conducted with utmost dignity and reverence, reflecting the nation’s deep respect and gratitude for the soldier’s dedicated service and supreme sacrifice. The ceremony witnessed an outpouring of emotion as personnel and civilians gathered to honour the fallen braveheart.
Officials and troops of the Assam Rifles, along with around 25 veterans, ex-servicemen, family members, and local residents, were present to pay their respects. The atmosphere was marked by patriotism and solemn remembrance as the community came together to bid a final farewell.
A wreath was laid on behalf of all ranks by the Sector Commander, Assam Rifles, Churachandpur, as a mark of respect to the departed soldier. The gesture symbolised solidarity with the bereaved family and acknowledged the sacrifice made in the service of the nation.
The tribute underscored the enduring commitment of the armed forces and paramilitary units to honour their fallen comrades with dignity, ensuring their legacy of courage and service is remembered with pride.
