General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), reviewed the progress of construction work at the new Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) complex being developed at Mehram Nagar in New Delhi.
As part of the Silver Jubilee Year celebrations of HQ IDS, senior officers also participated in a tree plantation drive during the visit, where the CDS planted a “Sindoor” tree symbolising growth, resilience, and continuity.
During the interaction, General Chauhan engaged with construction workers and enquired about their well-being, appreciating their contribution towards the creation of an important national defence institution.

The CDS also interacted with the staff of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and emphasised the significance of the upcoming establishment in strengthening organisational cohesion, integrated functioning, and operational efficiency among the Armed Forces.
Officials stated that the new HQ IDS complex will bring the organisation under a single roof, providing greater permanency, stability, and a stronger institutional framework for integrated defence management and joint military planning.
The project reflects the continued emphasis of the Indian Armed Forces on jointness, integrated capability development, and modern institutional infrastructure to support future military requirements.
