The outgoing and incoming Defence Public Relations Officers (PROs) of the Directorate of Public Relations Ministry of Defence paid a courtesy visit to Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM (Retd), Governor of Uttarakhand, at Lok Bhawan on May 15, 2026.
During the interaction, the Hon’ble Governor appreciated the dedicated service rendered by the outgoing Defence PRO and extended guidance to the incoming officer on the responsibilities associated with defence public communication.
Lt Gen Gurmit Singh emphasised the importance of holistic awareness and understanding of contemporary issues related to military-civil fusion, welfare of veterans and serving troops, disaster response preparedness, and national security communication.
He also underlined the significance of maintaining transparent, professional, and respectful communication between the Armed Forces and the media to strengthen public awareness and trust.
The interaction reflected the continued focus of the Ministry of Defence on effective public outreach, civil-military cooperation, and responsible dissemination of information related to defence and national security matters.
