The ceremony will be graced by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, AVSM, NM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, who will attend as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer. His presence will add special significance to the occasion, which represents the culmination of months of rigorous military, academic, physical and leadership training at one of India’s premier military institutions.

The Passing Out Parade is one of the most cherished traditions in the armed forces, symbolising the transformation of cadets from trainees into commissioned officers. The parade is expected to showcase immaculate drill, discipline, confidence and the spirit of service that define the ethos of the Indian Navy and the wider maritime forces.

Cadets who have successfully completed their training will march onto the parade ground with pride and precision, reflecting their readiness to assume the responsibilities of leadership and service. Their commissioning marks the beginning of a new chapter as they prepare to safeguard India’s maritime frontiers, contribute to national security and uphold the highest traditions of military service.

The Spring Term 2026 POP will witness the participation of trainees from the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, along with international trainees from three friendly foreign countries: Seychelles, Tanzania and Vietnam. Their presence highlights India’s growing role as a key training and maritime cooperation partner in the Indian Ocean Region and beyond.

The participation of foreign trainees also reflects the Indian Naval Academy’s contribution to strengthening international maritime partnerships. By training officers from friendly nations, India continues to reinforce bonds of trust, interoperability and cooperation with partner maritime forces.

The event will be attended by senior officers of the defence forces, foreign Military Attaches, proud parents and family members of the cadets. Also present will be the instructors and mentors of INA, whose guidance and dedication have played a crucial role in shaping the trainees into future leaders of maritime forces.

A key highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of medals and trophies to outstanding performers who have excelled in various fields during training. These awards will recognise excellence in academics, physical endurance, leadership, drill, sports and overall performance.

The parade will also feature the time-honoured tradition of the symbolic “Shipping of Stripes,” marking the formal transition of trainees into commissioned officers. This deeply meaningful ceremony represents the moment when cadets earn the rank, responsibility and honour of military leadership.

For the passing out cadets, the occasion will be both emotional and inspiring. It will mark the end of their training journey at the academy and the beginning of their service careers, during which they will be expected to lead with courage, integrity and commitment.

PASSING OUT PARADE

The Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala has emerged as a premier institution for maritime leadership training, producing officers equipped to serve in a complex and evolving security environment. The Spring Term 2026 Passing Out Parade will once again reflect the academy’s role in nurturing disciplined, capable and motivated leaders for India and partner nations.

The event will be streamed live on the official Facebook and YouTube channels of the Indian Navy, allowing audiences across India and around the world to witness the solemn and prestigious ceremony virtually.
