The Long Air Defence Course conducted at the Army Air Defence College concluded, marking the successful completion of an intensive 44-week training programme focused on modern air defence operations.
The course saw participation of officers from the Indian Army along with six officers from friendly foreign countries including Botswana, Ghana, Myanmar, Nepal, and Malaysia, highlighting strong international defence cooperation.
Over the duration of the course, officers underwent rigorous training covering both technical and tactical aspects of the latest Ground-Based Air Defence Systems (GBADS). The programme was designed to equip participants with the skills required for innovative and technology-driven application of air defence capabilities in an evolving battlefield environment.
Major Akshay Patil was awarded the prestigious Vayu Raksha Trophy for outstanding performance, while Major Sumit Kumar received the Commandant’s Trophy. The awards were presented by Lieutenant General RC Srikanth, AVSM, VSM, Commandant of the Army Air Defence College.
The course underscores the Indian Army’s continued focus on strengthening air defence preparedness and enhancing the capability to counter contemporary and future aerial threats, ensuring robust protection of the nation’s skies.
